I think it's a market for a mid-range scaled down Stage model.
* Instead of 2 GB RAM, it will have 2 GB ROM of selected sounds from Nord Piano Library.
* Still space for user samples.
* Skip the organ section. Or not..
* No aftertouch
* Less outputs.
* Less polyphony on synth section.
* Less controls,
But it wouldn't give them the same sales margin.

Maybe Mercedes-Benz should create a sub-$25k automobile, too!

A SmartFor2 sells for <$25K and that brand is co-owned by Mercedes and Geely. There’s a market for almost anything.
I would gladly take a Nord Grand that was only pianos - no synths. Enough storage for the largest version of EVERY grand, upright, EP, harpsichord, clav, and historical (ala Chris Maene) with enough capacity to add their largest versions as they come out for the next decade. No synths. Just pianos.
Probably not going to happen but I’d line up!

Yes there is a market for romplers and it's being served by a number of other vendors. It's not what Nord stands for and is targeting at and I don't believe it would benefit them getting into this.

Seconded. This goes against anything I’d ever want from a Nord.

I'm definitely in the camp with the last 3 posters... in the event that my sarcastic comment earlier was not entirely clear

Notice that Smarts neither use Mercedes engines, nor are they sold under the Mercedes brand.

Well sure! Remember when Steinway had the Boston piano brand? “Designed by Steinway” I believe was the pitch.
In a reverse direction, Hyundai has their upscale Genesis brand and doesn’t refer to Hyundai in its pitch.
I could see Nord doing another brand “designed by Nord” or “powered by Nord” - I mean sheesh - they could do with their sound library what Kawai does with their keybeds - imagine a Clavinova powered by the Nord Grand Library...
To be sure - if there’s a way to make money on it - it will happen. If you don’t see it - no one saw a way to capitalize. Always lots of good ideas - but there’s quite a difference between an idea and an actual market opportunity.

Re: Market for a mid-range ROM-based Nord?
Thing about Nord is, they’re a 30-man company, where everybody knows everyone else‘s family personally, and they go on company family outings and such, and that’s exactly how they want it.
If they added a lower-price brand, they’d have no capacity to build them. Or they’d need to move to China. Which is something they’ve decidedly avoided so far, in the interest of the above.
