I know what you're going through, as I had struggles of my own getting my stage 3 to a usable state.

Stick out the rough patch. The music is worth it.

(Or don't. You get to make the call. But I'm hoping you're still here for years to come.)

When you get an instrument which you feel is going to cover all your needs ie piano, synth, organ etc and you can create loads brilliant stage patches with splits /combis it is heaven to walk in a venue with one do it all instrument. It becomes however so indispensable. But if you feel you can't rely on it 100%..... the stress. Do you buy another one with replica patches keep it side stage just in case? For my older gear which I can source economically I do just that. 2 Roland pianos, two Roland synths, 2 Tx7s etc. I have an Electro 5HP which so far has been 100% reliable, but I wouldn’t like to pay for a back up just in case! If you are pro the responsibility can be as you say 'more hassle than you need'. If was just playing an occasional pub gig if a keyboard blew I would just make do on a synth.. Come to think of it once a keyboard did go faulty but it could still transmit MIDI so I cabled in a module in one song's time and carried on! Good luck! Andy

Hang in there Lew. As was once quoted by Henry Ford:-

“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”

You’ll get through this.

Gear issues can be SO frustrating, especially when you rely on them professionally. All the best Lew. We're with you 100%, pal.

Same frustration I had with my new Nord stage 3 compact. Last week the 3rd issue and today I got a whole new Nord Stage 3 compact.
Hope it wil be solved soon for you.

Echo the comments above Lew.

I had a stressful return with my previous Stage 2 EX which drove me insane for two months with the dealer but persevere and eventually it will be sorted.

Hang in there but be prepared to be patient for the solution. Not sure which dealer you were going through but after a month with no NS2 my dealer agreed to send me a loan Nord board until it was sorted. Maybe you could request this?

Hang in there, you'll get it all resolved.

I'm on my third grand. One was used and supposedly in great condition then arrived looked like it was dropped over and over, bent frame, etc. (knew it was a risk but since they allow returns was worth a shot).

Got a replacement, brand new then upper most ABC keys about a 1/4 inch out of level. Finally new one again, upper most keys still out of level. Tempted to exchange it but not sure I feel like doing it again but then $3,500. However, this one isnt as out of level as previous one, I'd imagine its fine and I wont notice but we spend SO much on this stuff...

Yeah, technology isn't making anyone's lives easier. Pretty much a lot harder. Back in the day, you would be playing an acoustic piano. Got a problem? Call a tuner.

Or maybe a Rhodes or Wurli. Even there, most problems can be solved by a small tool bag. You might need to order a part...

The Casio revolution in the 1980s unleashed a lot of monsters. Namely, keyboard styles built around imitating other instruments, orchestras, robots - or producing "synthesized" tones that while occasionally interesting, rarely date well and end up in the dust heap of the next generation. Anyone still pulling out their late 80s synth albums for inspiration? My guess is you'd rather be listening to Jelly Roll Morton.

Some things are timeless. Your Nord Stage 3 is not. It will be electronic waste long before any of us are in the ground.

GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER because if not, you'll lose me as a customer for good. life is too short and I know that personally if you get my meaning. I don't want any more crap from a company who isn't providing full packaging protection, a series of QC issues and a lack of care to customers..

Completely agree. I can relate with the qc issues too with my unlevel key bed haha. Hope your exchange goes well this weekend and gets sorted.
