Re: (resolved.. ish...) Nords going back to dealer after iss
He probably got fed up after spending loads of money on a keyboard that had issues, and people defending that company, and also criticising him personally like it was somehow his fault for not researching the retailer properly. What a load of BS. I stand with you Lew! If you buy something it should work, and if it doesn't the COMPANY who produced it should go out of their way to help you sort it out. Just my opinion.

He also railed against courier drivers, including one that complained that the package he was to pick up was supposed to be wrapped and ready to go (which was contrary to the agreement with the store manager, but really not the courier‘s problem).
I got the impression that he would take his indignation to whoever wouldn’t get out of the way fast enough, rather than focussing his complaints on those responsible, and severing ties if sales/service contracts weren’t fulfilled.

Completely agree. I understand some members here probably got tired of all of that, but it is very easy to simply scroll past this thread if that was the case. Too bad, fortunately I got his contact info a few months back as he has loads of useful information.

Keep in mind Lew is blind, which makes doing things like packing and unpacking gear a significant challenge.

Yes. I may not have been entirely fair, and I realise that he faces a whole different set of challenges that I probably cannot grasp. It was a gut impression I have.

Re: (resolved.. ish...) Nords going back to dealer after iss
Adam, I'm glad you've had such a perfect run of 25 years with no problems, and apparently have been able to read all the fine print. Lew however is blind so the fine print is perhaps a bit more difficult for him to read.
I personally have had very few issues myself and I've been doing this for a lot longer than you have. That doesn't mean problems don't occur, even when return policies are clearly written and action is taken immediately. My own recent bad experience was with a miss-shipped product. The wrong item was sent to me. It took more than 3 months, a dozen or more phone calls, a multitude of emails, contact with more than 6 different customer support people, and the added backing of Ebay and my credit card company to sort out and get the proper item shipped.
And this is with a company I have been doing business with for more than 5 years.
If you'd been paying attention to the entire thread and some of Lew's other posts, you'd know that he has had a considerable amount of hardship in the last coupe of years (death of his father, loss of his business). Its very easy to judge from the outside, but sometimes a small bit of compassion is warranted, and it really wasn't necessary to attack him personally for his troubles.
Having been through the death of my own father a little over two years ago I'm still dealing with all the estate matters and I can assure you it would be infinitely more complicated and stressful if I was blind.
Maybe consider how much more difficult it would be for you on a daily basis if you couldn't see.
You are certainly not responsible for Lew leaving, but your comment may have contributed to his level of stress and reduced mental well being.
Overall this forum/community is generally a supportive and postive place to be. Lets try and keep it that way for the benefit of all.
There is plenty of room for differing opinions and clearly sometimes heated debate (I'm guilty of that myself), but if we can keep personal attacks out of the discussion that goes a long way to keeping things civil and productive.
Its a shame Lew left, perhaps he will rethink his position and return at a future date. ( I actually did try and find a way to contact him off the forum. Not sure if my message will get to him as the last contact info I could find was from 2011).
On a separate note I think maybe the group here should collaborate on a melody to go with this threads lyrics
Peace..

Couldn't have said it better myself. And I am sure we all can agree on that. Thanks everyone for being kind around here!

Re: (resolved.. ish...) Nords going back to dealer after iss
I will miss him, and I'm sorry he felt frustrated enough to leave.
From what he's written about his life, it's been tragic for the past few years. I deeply admire his resiliency to keep striving forward and keep and relatively positive attitude. I know those challenges would test my will. His circumstances have certainly given him perspective on what's important. All the same, I can empathize with his frustration, and agree that a company as "prestigious" as Clavia should help make good on the problems. Had I lived near him I would offer assistance to help him remedy his situation.
I'm not looking to point anyone out here, as my next comment is a reflection on forums in general. I've never really understood the motivation or value of "trolling" (for lack of a better term). This forum is most certainly better than most (and some by far), but we have slipped from time to time. When I don't agree with someone, and a civil interaction won't suffice, I simply step aside. There are some forums where the discourse is severe and others where the disrespect is more passive. For the most part, we have been above that, and that is why I actually contribute to this forum much more than others.
To take from Lew's outlook on life - it's too short to get mad at other people. We're supposed to help each other out here, as we are a community with a common interest. As we consider our responses in writing, we should imagine we are looking people face-to-face and choose our words accordingly.
