Re: Leave it on? Or turn it off?
Does anybody else have an issue that if you accidentally step on the sustain pedal (triple pedal in my case) during boot-up of the Nord that the sustain won't work until after re-booting the Nord again? This happens on my Piano 4.

This is a good point. But the electrical grid is stable enough here that I have never worried about that.

I assume you are using sustain pedal "auto" mode. That means the instrument will test for the rested position polarity during boot up. If you press the pedal at this time, the machine will get confused.

True... you can also put your car in reverse on the highway... but you shouldn't

Happened just yesterday at rehearsal.
Here's the issue: Even after more than fifty years, manufacturers haven't agreed upon whether a sustain pedal has an open switch that is closed when you press it, or a closed switch that is opened when you press it.
This is why most third-party pedals (i.e. not Korg, Roland, or Yamaha) have a "polarity" switch.
Nord, like many other stage keyboard manufacturers, has auto-sensing: whatever is the state of the sustain pedal when the keyboard is powered on is the "not pressed" default.
If it's pressed during boot, it actually still works; it's just inverted (pressing it will cancel the sustain).
Rebooting the keyboard or just un-/re-plugging the pedal should do the trick.

I prefer disabling the auto function. Never have to worry about getting excited and playing while booting.

I can usually contain myself for the fifteen seconds it takes to boot the Stage.
But I have big feet.
