Herbie Hancock Rhodes Sound?
Have some of you guys already tried to mimic the typical 70s Hancock Rhodes Sound? Like which EP is used and what effects and other settings can be applied to get a very similar sound?

Re: Herbie Hancock Rhodes Sound?
Nefertiti set to one of the dynamic touch settings with a slight bit of breakup from the amp sim gets pretty close to the In A Silent Way/Live Evil sound.

Re: Herbie Hancock Rhodes Sound?
The Nord series can pretty well nail most any Herbie Rhodes due to its wide variety of available sounds and more importantly, extensive onboard effects that are just right for dialing in these sounds. What songs do you hope to emulate?
Nords: NE2, NS2 88, NS3 Compact x 2
Live rig: NS3, Vent, Radial KL-8, Shure PSM-900 IEM Rig, UE18 & UE7 IEMs.
Studio: Hammond A-101 & Leslie 122, Yamaha CP-80, Yamaha S90, NS2, DSI Prophet-6, Vent II, Roland JX-8P.

Re: Herbie Hancock Rhodes Sound?
Not about Herbie in particular, but I found that the sound I'm after is closer to one of the the Rhodes models at lesser velocities (desired amount of bell), but closer to a different Rhodes model at higher velocities (desired character of bark).ericL wrote:The Nord series can pretty well nail most any Herbie Rhodes due to its wide variety of available sounds and more importantly, extensive onboard effects that are just right for dialing in these sounds.

Same and I remember I made an attempt to blend 2 Rhodes in a single Program in order to get the best of the two, you can get some improvement but not exactly as if you may actually mix the 2 samples by velocity level.anotherscott wrote:Not about Herbie in particular, but I found that the sound I'm after is closer to one of the the Rhodes models at lesser velocities (desired amount of bell), but closer to a different Rhodes model at higher velocities (desired character of bark).ericL wrote:The Nord series can pretty well nail most any Herbie Rhodes due to its wide variety of available sounds and more importantly, extensive onboard effects that are just right for dialing in these sounds.

If only the Stage could morph by velocity, like the Nord Wave could!maxpiano wrote:Same and I remember I made an attempt to blend 2 Rhodes in a single Program in order to get the best of the two, you can get some improvement but not exactly as if you may actually mix the 2 samples by velocity level.anotherscott wrote:Not about Herbie in particular, but I found that the sound I'm after is closer to one of the the Rhodes models at lesser velocities (desired amount of bell), but closer to a different Rhodes model at higher velocities (desired character of bark).
