nice work on those black keys! Thanks for putting up your issue and solution Accordian Man. I have had my Electro 6 for around 6 weeks now with zero issues. I expect that sometime down the track I'll encounter a similar issue with those rubber strips and if the board's warranty period has expired, then I'll be able to repair the instrument.
cheers and beers,
Allan

Fixed!
Hi Everyone, my Electro 5D is fixed now. I replaced the contact strip for the faulty keys. I just used a 12 contact piece.
The notes are all responding correctly. There may be a very slight variation in the the stiffness of the keys, but not perceptible to myself anyway in normal use. I wouldn't be able to tell unless someone showed me the keys that had the new rubber underneath.
Hopefully it is all ok now! Cost around £20 in total for the contact strip + Delivery from USA to UK.

Also, the version of superstition I play was from YouTube video but I can't seem to find it. If anyone is interested let me know and I can break it down...
Thanks for your input everyone

Keys stiffness :
Ok, so after a bit more playing last night - the keys that feel more stiff now are the black ones by about 5-10%. The white ones I can't feel any difference.
While this isn't ideal, I have a feeling it won't be a problem in practical use. It took me a while to notice it. I'm doing a keys gig next week so I'll report back.
The problem of course is that the replacement rubber contact strip is a slightly different material to the original one. I think they must have changed the material around Electro 4 or Electro 5.
My old Electro 2 DID have slightly stiffer keys I seem to remember, so it makes sense.
Of course if anyone has access to the EXACT replacement strips for Electro 5 please let me know. For now though - I'm happy enough to see what it is like in use. Fingers crossed!

Re: Did 'Superstition' in Eb kill my Electro 5D? Help!
I may now have a similar problem on my Electro-3 73 with the second-lowest Db key (almost exactly 1 octave down from middle C).
If I hit that key very soft, it causes full volume, both with the Royal Grand AP sound and any clavinet sound - as if I had hit the key very hard.
But if I hit the key hard, I get very reduced sound. With the clavinet sounds, there is almost nothing to hear.
This only is effecting this single key - none of its neighbors are impacted.
I have opened up this board to clean out dirt from contacts twice. I know I am capable of replacing the gray rubber membrane if that is the answer.
Can anyone offer advice on whether replacing the gray rubber membrane should fix this issue? Thanks.
(As best as I remember, the gray rubber pieces are in sections which handle 8 neighboring keys.).

I would say definitely try replacing the rubber contact strip. I was having strange problems, and I'd also tried cleaning to no avail. I got mine from here :
https://www.syntaur.com/nord_electro.html
I had to make sure everything was really clean, and pressed down totally flat to get it all working properly. **Tip - when trying to get the rubber strips flat, you can sometimes pull them through from the otherside gently with some tweezers.**
The fact your keys are responding in reverse, makes me think the rubber strip may be upside-down. This is easy to do, I did it twice even though I was trying not to! But it wouldn't make sense that it only was affecting one key. Anyway, replace the rubber. Problem solved for me. Good luck.
