Time to consider a lightweight/compact trolley

Postby AllanH » 30 Jan 2019, 00:27

I'm keen to hear/see what everyone else does when lugging gear from carpark to rehearsals/gigs. With a Nord Electro, Spacestation v3, Keyboard stand and gig bag for my music/accessories it takes me at least 2 walking trips every time the band gets together.... I now cover about 200 metres each way from the carpark to the rehearsal room (fortunately over flat concrete/bitumen).

Now in my twilight tears, I need to treat myself to a 4 wheel trolley... any recommendations? what do others use?

thanks in advance,
Allan

Not sure if this is available Down Under, but my bandleader uses one of these to load the PA and bass amp in/out. Your Electro would hang off the end slightly, so you’d have to pay attention... but the cart’s cheap, lightweight, and takes a beating.

:thanks: looks good to me... lightweight, compact so it will fit in with the rest of my gear in my Rav4 SUV. Quick assembly too....

Is it manageable over the odd stair/roadside gutter ?

yes, we have similar styles to this in our general hardware stores... worth a look ! I imagine with the fold down handle that it would fit the back of an SUV quite easily

Perfect timing for me, I was thinking to buy one soon, we will be playing within the next 3 mins with my new band, I had in mind the "yellow/black" ones but thanks to Sus4 because I would have had a hard time to remember the brand....
If I bring the whole set up, Imhave a stage 2 88 with its Nord Gig bag, C2 organ ditto with its Nord gig bag, a D50 with its Mono bag, a P0$ and a P12 both with Mono gig bag, a full rack of 8U, a rack of 6U for the keys plus my two Yorkville Parasource 10, should I go with the biggest ones? The R18RT Plus? The PA will be two Mackie Onyx 1640i, one bass amp Eden plus two TC RS10 and 12, two Gutar Amp Egnater 40, Mics and stands etc....and at least two 15' plus one Sub 15....
Even the big one might be too small for one trip right? Or is it better to buy two so that it's more manoeuvrable?
Let me know
Sincerely

OK super, thanks, it will help me a lot to decide as there is some weight recommendation for your cart that Imcould compare with the rockandroller trolley....

Good point about the weight capacity, Qual34. While the model I listed upthread is also rated at 300lb, the company also makes a 600lb model. But the cost is well over twice, heh.

All my stuff could go inside my Chevy Cruze with the back seat flipped down.... The only thing I'm trying to avoid is to have to tear down my two 3 tiers stands as with my Equina cord syndrome due to my accident, I' trying to stay standing or seating all the time for my set up....The 2 stands have to be on a truck on the platform, friends and other members have one....
But due to the same limitations, my calf muscles not being very powerfull, I want to find the best balance of doing a one trip from car to stage but being able to carry it myself for the main part....so, tough decision....
I might do a chart listing all instruments, gig bags and accessories and see where I'm at ....
I have already been able to do it without a trolley but it takes me two hours to set up and it ruins my back before the concert so, not good...
I might also send a request to rockandroller for advices....
Thanks all anyway
