Sustain pedals mounted to each other

Postby Schorsch » 18 Mar 2022, 11:25

Hi all,

are you aware of any sustain pedals which have the option to be mounted next to each other? I'm not looking at something like the Fatar VFP2-10 since they are too spacey for me, rather looking at mounting two pedals at the size of the VFP1 or similar firmly and close to each other. Is there any vendor offering such an option?

Regards, Schorsch

Hi Schorsch,

I assume the Boss FS-5U does not meet your requirements? I use two of them for decades now.

Cheers

Hi,

I'm looking for "real Piano-style" pedals which I feel much more comfortable with - maybe because I got educated on classic piano for 14 years and therefore am accustomed to the look and feel of the pedals

I never used the Boss pedals but may give them a try if there is no other solution

You may build yourself a small pedalboard (wooden base of the minimum required size) and velcro 2 of those pedals as close as you want

I have 2 sustain pedals in use for my dual keyboard combi - but went away from having them next to each other: That made me absolutely nervous. For me, it's much more relaxed to have a main sustain pedal at a place where sustain pedals tend to be, and to have the other one totally apart.

This, and even more: I need to have it easy also on dark stages, so I use a piano-style Roland DP10 for the board I play the pianos with - my nord - and one of those square Yamaha switches for my other, synthy- and brass supplying korg.

I operate one as a sustain pedal for my NS3-88 and the other one as a sustain pedal for my NS3 Compact and need to have them really next to each other. I now have two DP10 but even though they have this rubber plate the tend to move away from each other so I am looking for some which can be firmly connected. I may handcraft something if there is no solution available or will try the Boss pedals although I doubt to get accustomed to them

I'm still waiting to have my pedal zoo solid. Then, I'll see how to fix them in place - either by velcro or by a frame around.

They connect to each other, but this will still slide (away) when not properly mounted to something like a pedalboard.

I can tell you where you'll end up if you're like me? A rather largish pedalboard, much bigger than guitarists use, with two piano-style pedals, a volume pedal, an expression pedal, a leslie pedal, and so on. Lotsa stuff on a big piece of plywood.

So if you plan on doing more with your setup, it pays to put some thought into how many pedals, how they stay affixed, how you'll keep the whole thing from sliding around, and so on. The more you gig, the more you will appreciate not having to chase pedals down when you need them.
I think I have gear issues ....
