Hi fellow Nord keyboard players


I’ve been using a Stardust Synth cover for my DX7 IFD since December and it’s great!

(I am not financially affiliated with them, they’re just great - even Dave Smith recommends them!)

I’m in contact with them, and they’ve told me that they’re planning on making covers for our beloved Nord keyboards in the very near future!
Now they need our help with some dimensions - I’d be very happy if you could help me out here, as I “only” have a Stage 2 EX 88 and can only approximate all the other models’ dimensions
The compact and drawbar models also have a differently shaped sidepart, I know)

I’ve attached my example of the Stage 2 EX 88 dimensions.
If you like, you can send me photos of the side of your Nord keyboards, or maybe even some reference dimensions similar to the attached pdf, 2-4 dimensions will suffice I can do the rest

Thanks Martin! I have several StarDust Covers and they are simply excellent, and great looking too! I often wondered why they didn't make any for Nords, at least for the Lead series which, apart from the A1, all have very similar measures.
I'd love to help but I don't know how to take such precise measures of my Nords...what did you use to measure down to 1/10 mm?

Exactly! That's why I've opened this thread
I took a photo of the side and dropped it into a CAD program, entered a reference dimension (the width, in this case) and created a skeleton model with some sketches

Hi MartinJ2EX. Nord posts the dimensions of their keyboards on their site, under "Specifications".

The covers are not just simply box-shaped, but fitted to the exact shape of the keyboards, see for example:


That's why I'm asking for the dimensions of the sideparts and knob placements

On some of their covers I notice manufacturers' logos - I guess that means they've collaborated directly with OEMs on those products. Perhaps Nord are willing to share STEP files with external dimensions or the like if they're asked.
