I don't have a NS2, but a NE3 and will try tomorrow.

Hey JoeCool,
Do you have the spacestation?
If you have it, it would be nice to try this and inform us.

The case-study is this:
If you send a stereo piano signal with a mono effect to the space-station, what happens with the side speaker, the volume and the 3D dispersion?

Thanks!

So i tried. I have an Electro 3 and the SSv3.
Difficult to say, first of all i don't have the impression, that the EP is true stereo if played without effects. Or maybe only a very little stereo effect. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I simply don't hear it. Perhaps it is different on the NS2? I compared with my headphones and did not hear a clear stereo with or without amp sim (except rotary of course). On the SS, turning up the side speakers ("wide" knob) does not change the sound with or without amp sim.
The amp sim makes the sound a little thinner, depending also on the "drive" knob. But that is the same on both headphones and SS.
Adding a clear stereo effect like "chorus" opens up the 3D and then there is a huge difference if you turn the "wide" knob on the SS down or up. Also the SS becomes a little louder as expected.
If you play a stereo signal like acoustic piano and add an amp (JK), yes it gets mono and you loose any advantage of the SS (besides it sounds horrible). Adding reverb is different, it seems that with reverb it stays stereo (difference audible when switching to mono on the board)
So for EP the SSv3 is good if you have chorus or another stereo effect. Without that it is not better than any other single amp. For AP it is a matter of taste, if you are very picky, it may have a little too much colour of its own. For me it is ok, because I am mainly an organ player (leslie is wonderful on the SS), don't play much EP, and for AP I want a real piano.
Hope I could answer your questions and help a bit......it is always difficult if one can not try out personally. :keyboard:

Hello JoeCool,
Thank you for the review, you 're the best!

You have verified my doubts about the SS. Well, not exactly about the SS itself, but the pairing with a nord keyboard such as NS2.
The clavia EP samples are all mono and this is why there 's no difference to the sound when you enable a mono effect.
On the other hand, the APs and the new electric grand are stereo. When I use the tube overdrive on the NS2 to boost my AP solo, it turns mono!

I play mostly in funk/soul or 80ies/disco/pop bands.
In a live situation, I use in the same set list APs, EPs, organs, synths, brass samples, plus I use the effects to overdrive my solos.

Spacestation is an excellent amp for sure, but I 'm certain now, I wouldn't balance my sound through it.

Passing through the set list, I change the sound all the time from AP, AP with overdrive, EP, organ, organ with leslie overdrive, etc, that means that I change mono and stereo signal even in the same song.
The SS would change the volume and dispersion, too.
I wish I was wrong...

Where is the NS3 with the stereo EPs and the stereo effects...?

It's in the same place as the NS3 with the slot for dispensing ten Euro notes. Next door to the one that calls unicorns on command.

Hi Costas, happy that I could clear it up for you. If there are further questions about the way the SS works, it can be useful to read through the ultralong everlasting thread on keyboard corner
http://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthread ... 602284/103
Aspen (the inventor of the SS) states that mono signals make the side speaker sort of muted, an recommends to enhance a mono signal with a touch of stereo reverb to compensate for that.

Who's talking?
Is it maybe the legal counsel of clavia?

Ten euro notes? What year is this, 1982?
The DX7 used to dispense 10E. NS3 should give us at least 50E notes!!!

Seriously, if you think that stereo samples and fx are extravagant, what can I say?

So it is confirmed by Aspen Pitman?
I don't believe that stereo reverb will enhance the mono signal effectively.

I 'll read it though.
Thanks man!

Don't shoot the messenger.

I was just trying to say that this so-far-mythical Stage 3 couldn't possibly have everything that everybody wants, or nobody could actually afford to buy one. Check the Stage 2 wishlist and you'll see what I mean. And of course everybody thinks that their wishes are more important than anybody else's. I'm glad I'm not a keyboard designer.

So less of the facepalming please, it's pretty offensive.

Hello Red Leo,
The irony of your post about the "10E notes" is not less offensive.
Don't act as you 're "offended" now.

Stereo EPs and FX are not just my wishes.
Clavia's APs are stereo, the new EG is stereo. It's possible to see a stereo EP sometime. And sampling has nothing to do with a new keyboard. The NE5 has a stereo FX section. It's possible to see it on the next Stage, too.

The topic of my posts is about pairing a NS2 with SS.
Unfortunately, this pair is problematic. And it is not a SS issue...
If you need to answer on behalf of clavia, do it by using arguments, not irony.
