Hello!
I was wondering, would you prefer to rely on an App or a physical device for sending MIDI program change commands to your rig (one or more keyboards)?
It's not a device-specific question and I don't know which devices or apps are around, it's general: do you prefer a special purpose app on a general purpose device or a totally dedicated and designed device?
Let me know
Mirco
EDIT: i forgot to mention, I'm talking as a man with a NS2 and no "song mode", so even with one keyboard there are some "setlist needs".

Re: Setlist organization devices
I have NS2 and used an iPad with Yamaha Setlist Organizer app (now discontinued) and sometimes Setlist Maker for that purpose; apps like those are quite powerful and handy to use, including reorganizing setlists "on the fly" (like 5 minutes before the concert or... during the concert!)

Re: Setlist organization devices
Fully agree with Max, I use BandHelper (the successor of Setlist Maker) with all my keyboards

Re: Setlist organization devices
Thanks for the answers! I don't know why I have such a bad feeling with apps BandHelper seems really powerful! I'll give it a shot when I have time...
Before using that app, how did you manage to organize presets on multiple keyboards? Only for curiosity! I used a maximum of 3 keyboards together and for me it was already a nightmare (organization is not my best quality).

Re: Setlist organization devices
Before I used BandHelper I was playing a combination of Yamaha Motif XF and Roland RD800, have created all sets in the Motif Master section including the program changes for the RD800. This worked but was not really convenient, that's one reason why I switched to BandHelper. The other one is the ability to display song text - I remember (or shall I say feel on the fly) melodies and chords very well, but I don't remember song text at all. Since I also sing background in my band it's essential for me to have the text available ......

Re: Setlist organization devices
I just have my NS3 send program changes to my A1. Simple, but works perfectly in Song Mode which I configure for each gig.

Re: Setlist organization devices
I've been using Bome for a couple of years now. Basically you design your own setlist manage application with MIDI logic. Ive always used it in a very simple configuration where every song has its own number. Choose the number and it send the program changes, volumes, master-slave, and what expression pedal controls what. Most useful of this was to select the number in advance. Then when the patch change is needed simply press a launch button/pedal.
Currently improving this concept by making it capable of handling multiple setlists, previous/next switching, remember last song (since wr practice transitions a lot), simple drag and drop the setlist in the right order instead of hard code and delayed program change for specific keyboards of desired.

Re: Setlist organization devices
I use set list/song list now on the Electro 5 / Stage 3.
Before that I used a Word document with all preset nummers written behind the songs.
I put the songs in the right order before a gig and printed the document.

Re: Setlist organization devices
@weremole Bome seems interesting too!
@DJKeys, if I had time to fully reorganize presets, I'd stick to that method
Paper and pen is always reliable
Meanwhile I found time to try Bandhelper and in minutes I created a couple of setlist for two incoming gigs. Apart from a few sudden chrashes (maybe due to my phone) it was really easy.
