Nord Piano Monitors vs iLoud Micro Monitors

Postby MioAkiyama9 » 30 Nov 2019, 15:23

How good are they as general purpose speakers/monitors comparing to iLoud Micro Monitors?
(by 'general purpose' I mean playing on them something other than piano sounds when they are not connected to keyboard)

-------------------------------------
If someone is wondering why I have this question:
I very much like how they look and the way they mount on Nord keyboards, but I will use them more when they are hooked up to my computer rather than keyboard. I also don't want to spend money on more than one pair of good monitors right now. They are not available for test locally and there are not many reviews online.
(by something other I might mean rock, vocals and metal music)

Sorry to jump in late on this but I’m curious which monitors you decided on. I have the iLoud micro monitors that I still use every now and then although I’ve gone with a pair of Adam Audio A3X and Sub7 subwoofer since then. When I recently got my Stage 3 HA88 and learned of the Nord monitors, the one thing that interested me about these was the ability to mount them on the instrument allowing tactile feedback with the vibration transferring to the piano and producing a realistic feel when playing the piano voices.

Since you already have them anyway, I'd try sitting those iLouds on the NS3, and see if that could give you the effect you want. I'd be curious about that myself.

I tried it on the NS3 and didn’t really care for how they sounded at below ear level and since I felt the vibration wasn’t that noticeble ,they went right back up on the stands again. Of course it might sound fine to others’ ears and that’s just my opinion. I guess I just got used to hearing the speakers at a higher elevation.

Here’s how I have them set up. I use them mainly for Channels 3 & 4 on the NS3 and EXTERN from a Yamaha Montage and the Adams for everything else. Unbelievable sound.
