Has anyone modified their sheet music stand to have it angled more severely (not quite flat but close)?
It seems if there were a more angled set of pins that could work but not being an engineer or handy for that matter, I’m not sure where to begin. Being aluminum, I don’t think you can bend the stand backwards in any satisfactory way - I think it’s all in the pins. What do you think?

depends on the weight load you intend to place on it...
suppose you had it laid out nearly flat -- that would create a much larger moment arm against the mount surfaces, greatly increasing the force on the lower chassis where those brackets are mounted and possibly damaging the chassis if too much weight were placed on it -- it's all about leverage
probably not a good idea...

Very good point! This is why one should never let a non-engineer recommend an architectural solution.
