The Grand has no Bluetooth capability as far as I know, so I just needed something to act as transmitter from it’s headphone socket. Schorsch’s reply gives the answer, thanks.

Bluetooth audio transmission has a certain latency, it can be minimize if the transmitter/receiver both support a low latency codec like aptX. The one I mentioned above does support it but small latency still might occur between the moment you press a key and the time you hear the sound

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share that I have the Audeze LCD-1 headphones, and they sound amazing on the grand. With the 16ohm impedance, the volume output range is excellent, I usually run at medium or just over medium on the volume knob. The soundstage is immersive and sound reproduction is precise. Definitely worth the money, and way better than my older Sennheisers.

I definitely do not have a volume issue with headphones on my Piano 4 (don't have the Grand so can't say if different).

With my Oppo PM-3 headphones (no dedicated amp), I cannot go past the 3 o'clock position (roughly 75% volume) on the master volume knob without it becoming painfully loud (Piano volume is maxed). And that is only using a touch setting of 1.

Are you sure that you have the separate Piano and Master volume levels turned all of the way up?

EDIT: I did try using some lower-quality Sennheiser 280 Pros with the Piano once though, and I could hear static through the line that is not audible on my Oppos, though there is a strong chance that this was due to me using a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter that was not designed for the Sennheisers.

My go-to set for general use are BeyerDynamic DT880 and they seem to work well with my NP4 (and Stage and Wave). No static. My IEM system should arrive today so over the next few days I will give that an initial test.

I've had them coming up on four years. Not that I've tried a lot of higher end models but I'm very happy with them.

i love my HD650, but they are very high impedance (300 Ohm), so if the Grand really has such a weak headphone amp they might not be a good choice. they work great on my Electro 6, though.

someone mentioned the Sony MDR-7506 - i liked the sound of these and they are very reasonably priced, but although they're sometimes described as circumaural (over-ear), they aren't really since part of the foam rests on the front of the ear. i found them extremely uncomfortable to wear after an hour or so due to the foam pressing on my ear piercings.

I have also found the 7506s to be really uncomfortable after a couple of hours due to pressing on the ears. They were my first taste of quality headphones and I fell in love with the sound way back when, but they are not comfortable for extended wear.

They are amazing sounding headphones for $100, but there are much better sounding and more comfortable headphones out there that are also much more expensive.
