Handy Shelving Cabinet for Devices?

Post by lawman »

I'm getting ready to hire a carpenter to build me a small custom shelving cabinet for my electronic devices, but before I do I'm curious as to whether any of you know of any off-the-shelf units that would work, or that could give me some ideas on configuring my own. I'm long-since retired from any public performing and have been retired from my long-time day job for several years. I still play my Steinway B every day, and like to play my Nord Grand and little Hammond frequently. What I'm looking for is a nice wooden cabinet with forward-slanting shelves that would accommodate my mixer (ZED 10FX, probably on the bottom) and four smaller devices (two Strymons, a Vent II and my new Korg drum machine). I want the boxes to be conveniently presented and handily accessible while I'm sitting in front of my keyboards. I can't be the first musician in the world to want something like this, but I sure can't find any suitable specimens. I don't mind having one custom built, but I'd like to see any promising candidates first. What do all of you do? I know that there are a lot of good pedalboards out there, but they would be sub-optimal for viewing and adjusting settings.
