With a non-adjustable stand like the 18953, I wouldn't be satisfied with having to adjust the position of the keyboard to the stand (taking care the feet are not getting in the way), and not vice versa. The 18950 is a custom stand in all respects.
I set the width of the 18950 so that the holes are exactly at the width of my NS2 Compact's feet. Then I insert the front feet in the front holes, and the back feet go somewhere into the bigger holes at the back (which are longer precisely so they can accomodate feet at any position).
The overhanging depth never bothered me in the slightest: I play above the keys, not below
I actually put it to use by rolling up the cables around the horizontal bar of the stand and down a leg, so they don't hang around and the stage look is more tidy.

That said, we're really nitpicking: all K&M stands are great products and will work perfectly in almost any situation!


NOTE: although I'm totally satisfied with the K&M, I am considering a DIY solution like Vojtech did

purely for the cleaner look and the possibility to attach the Nord Music Stand. And because it would probably weigh a bit less. And because I'm a sucker for DIY jobs

Are the 18950, 18953, and 18820 all basically equivalent in terms of stability? Do you find they have appreciably different "footprints"? And do you think the holes on the 18950 would line up well with a 73-key Electro?

Currently I have a K&M Spider Pro for when I need 2-3 tiers. Looks a little goofy, is a little cumbersome to setup, and I'm not nuts about the huge logo - but functionally it's the best stand I've ever had, and far more portable than old setup for 3 boards (a 2 tier X stand and a single X stand).

At home I have the Omega Pro 18810 with 3 tiers. Solid as hell and functional. Unfortunately I bought it thinking it was portable and quickly adjustable. Ah well, needed a nice stand for home anyway.

I'm considering this one for single tier keys gigs to replace my trusty On Stage heavy duty X stand. How's the setup time?
Also wondering how it compares to the other foldable K&M stands mentioned in this thread.

I'm currently also looking at the K&M 18950 or 18953 for my NE5D (73-key), and currently have a potential good offer on a used 18953, but will want to add the second tier (for a 61-key Korg Kross). Looking at the second tier kit though (18952), the arms seem to be much deeper (340mm) than the main tier itself (260mm), which suggests the two boards will end up pretty much on top of each other (or even the top tier being more forward), rather than having the top tier set back a bit. I can see there are three potential depth settings for them, but haven't been able to find any photos of the 18953 with the stacker arms fitted to see how it looks. At least on the 18950, with the extra depth to the main tier, it means the top tier will be set back a bit.

Well, this is not easy for me as a non-native English speaker.

1. I wasn't aware of the fact that the 2nd tier is deaper than the main one. You won't probably see it.

2. But, indeed, my piano on the main tier overlaps on both sides: in the front and at the back. The instrument on the 2nd tier won't do that - it can't in the front, and in my case, the arms stick a little out on the back. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo for that. The drawing may show that you can slide in the arms for the 2nd tier to different degrees.


3. It's widely up to you how far in the back your 2nd tier will sit. But it will never sit directly above the main tier - approximately between 1/3 and 2/3 above it.

4. The specs say your Nord Electro 5D-73 is 29.6 cm deep. Thats's even less than my Yamaha CP33 (33 cm) that usually sits on the main tier. That should fit well for your 2nd instrument on the upper tier. I'm still wondering what to do to swap my CP33 with my new Kawai VPC1 which is 42.5 cm deep - I might need to get a 18950 to have it sit securely on the piano table. On the other side, the weight alone may make it sit very stable. In any case, I'm confident that the 18952-2nd tier arms will fit for both tables.

I got the size information for the 2nd tier from the K&M website. I'm guessing the 340mm 'depth' measurement is for the length of the arms (X in the modified photo below), which is longer than the width of the main tier (Z in the photo below), hence I thought they might come too far forward. But I guess some of that length is behind the vertical post/hinge (Y in the photo), so it it is still set back a little. I've seen photos of it fitted to a 18950, like in the drawing, but that's been a great help to know that it doesn't come too far forward on the 18953, thank you.



I think I'll sleep on it and decide tomorrow whether to buy it! I'm swapping from my current Hercules KB210B, which is great but when on its lowest setting (for playing seated) the top tier is still way too high for me (with too much gap between the main tier and second tier). It would be perfect for playing standing up! I'm hoping this will be a good solution and still be easily transportable for gigs.

Sorry I can't help with your CP33 vs VPC1 dilemma, but I guess the 18950 is 395mm deep so in theory would be a better fit for your VPC1?

My dilemma is collecting different stands for different keyboards - which wasn't my intention. But on the other side: Things that fit are easier to handle.

You are right with X, Y and Z, but what I tried to say is that there is also a W which is to your liking: You don't necessarily need to fit all the holding bar of the second tier into the bearing of the table - there may be some cm behind.

Because I moved my stand every second week, I finally added a bag from K&M just for the table. The bars for the second tier won't fit into that bag, though.

I enclose a foto from my last Friday‘s gig which may give you a good impression. My NE5D 61 has the same depth as your 73, and my korg X50 has almost the same size as a korg kross 61. The width of my k&m 18950 is adjusted to the nord‘s rubber feet to make them sit in the stand‘s top bar holes. Very solid! And if I remember correctly my top tier is in its most rear position, but I may check that later if of any interest.

Aha! That's great to know. I read the instructions for the 2nd tier (perhaps that was my mistake?!!) and it said to push the holding bars all the way in, so I assumed they needed to be fully in for the screw holes to align. If not, then that's great as it gives some adjustment.

That is a shame, but again good to know! The used 18953 I'm looking at comes with the K&M bag, and I'd hoped the top tier would fit in with it

Thanks! The 18950 doesn't look as deep as I'd thought with the Electro on it, at least not from that angle. I also like your mixer bracket, but unfortunately that won't work for me playing seated.
