Can't find/Quit Nord sound Manager?

Postby Quai34 » 07 Dec 2018, 06:25

Hi,
I' m sure it's obvious but for a two months newbie on Mac, not for me, sorry.
When I click on the Icon for Nord Sound Manager, it tolls me that the Apps is already running, it pares in he tool bar but cannot see the main page.
It did that to me few times when I had switch off the power on all supyhtns and IMac without closing Nord Sound Manager but last times, I just shut down the Iamc and clicked again on NSM and I was good...Niw, no.
I tried to click on NSM and scroll down to force quit but the only one that app read in the window in Finder, not NSM?
I'm on Josemite 10.10.5, Iqmac late 2012?
Sorry for asking it seems that as the Apss is running but I can t see where to look and it and how to see the main page....
Any help?
Sincerely
I tried to unplug the Stage 2 (I did it last time it was running during a practice because NSM was synchronizing some times...but??

Maybe just a process of that app is still running, you can check that using the System Monitor; try also to use the Mission Control button (F3) to see if you can respawn the NSM main window; when you do the Shut Down ensure the checkbox to "Reopen existing windows at reboot" is unchecked

As a side consideration, I think you should update your OS (not necessarily the cause of that behavior but could also be) or, last resort, try to remove and then reinstall the NSM.

How did you close the Nord Sound Manager? You should use the "Quit" function, not clicking the window "close" button. Mac apps behave differently from Windows apps - they can sometimes stay running in the background even if you close the window - this is to support advanced functionality like auto sync and other stuff. To fully close a Mac app you can switch to it by using Command+Tab (hold down command and press the tab key - the first time this will pop up a little bar with all the running apps in it, the more times you press tab while still holding the command key you will see each app highlight in it's turn, when you want to switch to the highlighted app let go of all the keys and it will be the one with the name in the menu bar). Then type Command+Q to quit the program (or you can click on the name of the app in the menu bar and select "Quit"). Then the next time the app starts up it may or may not "remember" whether it had the main window closed, but it should at least start up without a warning that it is already running.

This is a big confusion for people from Windows - but even Linux behaves this way - it is only a strange Windows behaviour to fully close an app by closing the window itself. Most other computers leave the application loaded so you can still use it in the background. Once you get used to that, it becomes a habit and is no longer a problem.

Welcome to the Mac world! It's different, but there are good reasons for the differences (most of the time!).

Thanks a lot, well, I was using Mac in 1986, the first one, with " Multiplan".... But nothing after that, all on Windows....
Ok, between your advices and the infos I found on line, I should understand how it works... In fact, I didn't close anything, I just shut down the power bar where the IMac is plugged in.... So, that might have need the issue as well....But the Imac was in "sleep mode", I didn't realized it was still running....
