Hello,
I'm looking for feedback on what I should consider for my Nord Electro 6D keyboards amplification. I play music for myself in my home for my personal enjoyment only. I currently have a pair of KRK Rokit 4.5 monitors that have served me over the years but now with the Nord I think they may not be doing so well. The piano sounds are great but since I'm really getting into rock organ, think john Lord, there's a "buzzing" sound coming from them at times and I'm wondering if I need a "real keyboard amplifier"? Since I'm not looking to perform for anyone I just want a good quality amplifier like maybe a Roland KB-200 or the Peavy KB-2. Any feedback and or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. just trying to figure this out as I go along,,,. thanks again
I tried using my old Vox AC15 yesterday loaded with a Celestion alnico Blue speaker and it sounds great so I do not need any feedback from the forum now. I am disappointed in the members balking in sharing their thoughts on the matter which really, really confuses me. From what I've seen keyboarders "seem" to hide their amplifiers?! Watch almost any YouTube keyboard videos and they do not list and or show their equipment. As a life long guitarists we almost always list the entire signal chain as a matter of due course. Just my thoughts on this....

You didn't mention budget, nor space limitations, nor indicate how loud you want to get. Those details would help greatly.

Jon Lord famously used a Marshall guitar stack back in the day because he couldn't find anything that could get loud enough, or so it has been said. Many folks here wouldn't consider the Roland nor the Peavey a "real keyboard amplifier" if you're looking to amplify overdriven organ.

Lots of good choices out there, depending on your circumstances.

If you use a quitar amplifier to achieve this distorted John Lord sound then your acoustic pianos and other sounds will sound awfull. For home use I think a pair of good studio monitors is just fine and will serve you well for all kinds of sounds. If you want some extra dirtiness for the organ try changing the B3 settings to vintage 1, 2 or 3.

Focal Alpha 80 studio monitors would be a nice step up. Bass sounds like a sub woofer engaged! Yamaha HS8 would be my next choice.

I agree. Also, apart from tonewheel settings per se, you may want to experiment with the onboard EQ and dial some overdrive in. I think that will get you pretty close to the Jon Lord sound -- if you mean the Machine Head years, regardless of the speaker. Leslie sim OFF, percussion and C/V OFF, drawbar like 888800440 (not that crucial) and a bit of overdrive and you'll get rather quickly closer than you expect to the Lazy sound.
