I've read on this forum how some members ask if they can use their studio monitors as a PA keyboard option,
and the answer is no, they won't project for live use. I have a pair of Yamaha HS8's and they do get plenty loud in a home setting.
I was in guitar Center and saw the Alto TX 208. 8 inch speaker,150 watts, $129 each. They sounded surprisingly good! Nice clean sound up to it's clipping limit. It gets loud. Good durable construction. They also make a TX 210. 10 inch speaker-little more SPL for $169. Still very light weight at 17 Lbs. Keep in mind bare bones speaker: one XLR input/one XLR output only. They would also make a great monitor. Can anyone else suggest other speakers in this price range? Next step up I have found would be Yamaha DBR10 $325 or QSC CP8 $399. Big difference in $$$ and power.

Re: Alto TX 208 as Least Expensive PA
At that price range, I would suggest exploring what's available on second-hand forums, e.g. reverb, craigslist, etc.
I think I have gear issues ....

I love my Alto TS210. Cheap and lightweight. The sound is clean and loud enough.
