Hi,
thanks for all the replies!
I use Mainstage mainly for giving me Lead Sheets and the setlist. I also use some of the EXS software instruments, especially for sampled Strings and some additional mellotron sounds (that's where the Nord Stage 2 would come in handy :) and some Bell-like sounds from Sculpture (which is one of my favourite synths in the Logic suite).
@Petrounic: Yes, you can use ProFire stand-alone, but just with a fixed routing, which I didn't find very useful. In Stand-Alone, input channels 1-2 are sent to output 1-2 and input 3-4 is sent to output 3-4, IIRC. Unfortunately it doesn't save your routing setup for offline use. So if you want any other routings, you need to connect it to a laptop while using it.
@Johannes: Thanks for the compliments! Yes, we don't like guitars very much, so we try to get most out of the keyboard sounds. I found the clavinets very very useful for doing some more rythmic patterns which are usually played by a rythm guitar. The Wah-Wah is especially great for this purpose, combined with a volume pedal :) I actually played around with a lot of different setups, with a dedicated synth/sampler instruments, much more effects etc. But it always ended up in a mess, mainly because using these kinds of sounds in a live situation requires a lot of preparation. So you have to put a big effort in preparing effects, sound changes etc., but end up pressing just some preset buttons during performance. So the Nord gave me the chance to actually perform and play naturally with the sounds live, which is just the way I feel most comfortable (as is true for the rest of our band). That is ultimately how we ended up with this kind of sound and ambience.
Re: My gear
Hello,
I'll run down what goes on stage with me when I play with my band Red Cedar. In the live picture below, on the left I was playing an Hammond XK3C. This was stolen the next day after the picture was taken. It was stolen along with $14000 in band gear out of our trailer, and guess what? We started a two week studio session that same day. With the help of friends, we borrowed, rented and bought what we had to. I rented a Korg CX3, and ran it through my Leslie 860. It worked out ok... I had to sell the Little Phatty in order to put money down on a Nord C2 and Slim Phatty, both financed together. It took a bit of getting used to, but I love the new set up. I control the Slim Phatty with the Memotron, both outputs go into the Roland Space Echo. All boards go into a Fender Deluxe Reverb, the Nord, Moog, Tron are sent to the clean channel, and the Rhodes into the reverb/vibrato channel. The Nord also gets connected to a Leslie 860 via 11 pin cable. The on-board controls operate the Leslie speeds, which means no combo stomp box... The blend between the Deluxe and the Leslie is incredible! As a former XK1 and XK3C owner, I can say with total certainty that the Nord C2 is the BEST digital Hammond clone out there!!! Drawbars or not, the tone and function blow the XK's away. I just wasn't a big fan of the bright red...
Also LOVE the Farfisa on the C2!
Pre-Theft...
Post-Theft
Yeah, I painted it Black...
All Together
Cheers!

Re: My gear
These are my instruments. I use all of them for home recording. I also play keyboards in a 9-piece reggae and funk band. and for that I just use the NE3 73 (for Wurly and Hammond/Leslie sounds) and the Stylophone S2, which I have customised with a backlight behind the keyboard. I use a standard X-stand and play through a 4-channel 80-watt 1x12" + tweeter combo.

Re: My gear
Update:
I found myself a Behringer U-Control UMX610 on internet with 61 keys and "normal" keyboard (midi controller).
looks pretty too next to the NS2
I works like a charm, but I have to check al programs to see if the correct slots are assigned to the midi keyboard.
So, I have some work to do

PS: is it possible to save each midi setting for each program (instead of global save)?

Re: My gear
For live performance I use:
Yamaha s90ES w/ Yamaha FC3
Nord Electro 4 SW73 with Yamaha FC3 & FC4 (used also as a midi controller for the Triton Rack)
Korg Triton Rack
Behringer 802 mixer
Motion Sound KP200S
Would be interested in other's opinion about
Using Nord as controller
Fidelity of the Motion Sound
Thanks!
