I was reading a review on the Nord Stage 2 which was like a roller coaster ride. One of the down points the reviewer mentioned was that the amp sim/drive section didn't respond as it should. He ran the Stage 2 organ through it and the distortion didn't change when he brought the volume up and down of that section. You couldn't "swell into the drive effect" like you would on a real amp/speaker or distortion device.
Does anyone know if they can/will fix this? That's kind of a bummer.
I have to check but was this also the case on the Nord Stage 1???? I thought it did do that.

Re: Volume swell into the amp sim/drive section
As far as I can tell, this is correct (and I'm happy about it because otherwise there wouldn't be any good way to control the volume of EPs per program). However, it works "as it should" with the Leslie emulator, which has its own Drive knob.

Re: Volume swell into the amp sim/drive section
I agree sometimes it can be good to retain the distortion and turn the volume up and down. But at the same time I like to control the drive input with volume for something like an amp. So it's kind of a bummer. Would be cool if you could choose it to work either way. But if I had a choice it would be the other way. Hope they can change that.

Nice thread! Some cool tricks in there.
Still, I think Clavia should try to fix this. Although I wonder if they can or if that's just the way it has to be in this revision.

Re: Volume swell into the amp sim/drive section
Also, from the manual:
The Rotary Drive parameter is dependent on the processed
instrument’s Level setting. If the instrument being processed by
the Rotary is set to a very low level, the amount of available drive
will be significantly reduced. Again, this is very much like it works
with the “real articles” - when you increase the organ level, e.g.
by using a swell pedal, the amount of distortion from the Rotary
effect increases.

Re: Volume swell into the amp sim/drive section
As I said, the amp and Leslie (=rotary) simulators are different in this respect. So in a way, you are both correct.

Re: Volume swell into the amp sim/drive section
I hope my comment didn't come off as argumentative -- I just happened to be reading though the manual and spotted that bit -- and so per FunKey's earlier comment, it seems one can use the rotary sim to swell into overdrive.

I didn't get that feeling. Just good information.
