One dead note?

Postby Tarkus697 » 18 Jul 2012, 01:50

I've had my Stage 2 SW73 for maybe 2 weeks, used it for one practice and some mild playing at home. This evening, the B-flat below middle C is dead. No signal at all. All other notes sound properly. Happens on all patches I tried.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks,
Alan

Thanks for the info, but I'm not sure if it's velocity related. There is no sound at all, no matter if I play hard of soft on this key. Seems like the contact is completely dead for whatever reason. I'm contacting AM&S (US distributor) today.

This contact fouling problem does not always exhibit as "velocity problem;" that's just one of the possibilities. Because it is a very distinctive one, it is worth mentioning -- it verifies the cause of the problem with 100% certainty. There are two contacts per key; if one fouls it shows as 100% velocity, if the other fouls, it shows as a failed note.

That's absolutely correct. Check the link http://www.proaudioe.com/pages/nord-tec ... eybeds.php It has description for all possibilities including dirt, bad diodes and rubber. Good luck.

PS I would send it for repair If the unit is under warranty.

Took it in for warranty repair to an authorized place about 20 minutes from me (convenient!). Dirt under the contact was the culprit and they cleaned all the other contacts in there just to be safe. Working like a champ again!
