Anyone have a favorite Strings sample that they are layering with one of the grand pianos. ( I am using the Steinway D).
I just got my unit, so I am still in the early phase of learning it. As I import the samples, they are not sounding very good, likely because I have not
figured out how to properly tweak them in the programs
THANKS,
AB

Re: Recommended strings for layering with piano
make sure you init the synth section before you listen to a sample, otherwise the synth envelopes could be adversely affecting the sound you're listening to.

Re: Recommended strings for layering with piano
Hello deswind,
in combination with piano I like and prefer synthetic strings most, like the DX7IIC Anastring (orig. sample no 87). With volume and cutoff reduced a bit, it is very uniformly and smooth.
cheers

Re: Recommended strings for layering with piano
Thanks to both of you. Wow - I do not think I did the init part! I love that there are so many buttons to learn. This is one fun keyboard.
Best,
AB
Follow up - I got a real cool strings sound today. Almost half real half synth - but it is beautiful - so what the heck. I love being able to manipulate it with synth controls. I think it has been 30 years since I was this happy with a keyboard. And I really do not know why. Some sounds are awesome, some are so so, but the tweaking ability of it is just awesome.
