Stage 3 Review Sound on Sound Magazine March

Postby solmaster » 26 Feb 2018, 00:03

Not sure if you can buy SOS magazine outside the UK, but they've done a highly positive review of the Stage 3 88 in the March edition.
Pros:-
Increased Memory and Polyphony
Enhanced Effects
Seamless Tranitions (Love this)
Song Mode/program up/down mode with pedal (Use it all the time for fast changes)
Hammond model (Still not perfect according to some users-I think it's fine)
Synth engine
Build Quality (Not so sure all forum members would agree with this!)
Cons:-
User Split Points (Actually I really like the lights on a dark stage)
Triple Pedal should be included (Agree with this-a really expensive extra in the UK!)
Vox and Farfisa models falling behind competition. (Never use them, so not an issue for me)
Clavinets have no mute function (Again, not something I use, but I'm aware many owners do)
No USB audio
It's not cheap (You want the best.... never cheap!)
MIDI didn't get much of a mention, but Im aware that there are issues for some users.
Summary:-
A significant step forward from the Stage 2.
If the facilities of the Stage 3 are appropriate to your needs, you won't be disappointed!

I guess it's what most of us who have bought a Stage 3 already know, but nice to read about it none the less!

Yes, SOS magazine can be read/bought here in Canada, thanks for the info.... Good magazine but the way, a bit too much of everything for my taste to subscribe but well, keyboards magazine is now part of Electronic Musician.... So, if seems that a dedicated keys only magazine is not viable enough nowadays...

I subscribe to Keyboard Magazine, It's very cheap subscription digital (on my IPAd) - but unfortunately it's not as good as it used to be 3 years back.. Strange with so many guitar magazines, but I guess there are many more guitarists than keyboard players around... Good we have this excellent user group, way better than the Motif group :-)

I don't know any other users group, besides the Proteus 2000 Yahoo group, they don't really post a lot but anytime you ask a question you have very technical and usefull answers.....Like people who are able to do so much stuff for software, program and so on....
The other forums I followed are Gearslutz and DSI forum but yes, no more magazine....I had subscribe for one year to the print+digital one for Keyborads magazine but yes....Way more guitarist or Dj's/Electronica music magazine nowadays....
And this forum was also a bit plus in my decision to by a Nord instead of Kronos in 2011...
And I agree, I missed the old keyboards magazine news of the 80's area, it was in English and in French and very different ones at that time....Well, nostalgia....

It seems we keyboard players are a much rarer breed than guitarists! Arguably not as cool to play keys-less pose factor?!
Also potentially more expensive to buy up to date gear?

Many of us here are denizens of both. Keyboard corner for general conversations on gear, this forum when it's more Nord-specific. A great bunch of helpful people in both locations.
I think I have gear issues ....

Code: Select all
Vox and Farfisa models falling behind competition.
