Hello,
I want to know how to configure in midi my Nord stage 2 in multitimbral mode.
Is it normal, that position OFF don't exist for Dual KB (MIDI1 to MIDI16 and USB1 to USB16 but not OFF)?
Thanks.

Re: Midi sounds in multitimbral mode for Nord Stage 2
It is normal because simply if you don't activate DualKeyb from the panel then it is "OFF"

Re: Midi sounds in multitimbral mode for Nord Stage 2
Thank you,
In midi with the NS2, i can play only two sounds. I want that Cubase or Varranger play NS2's sounds.
How could i configure multitimbral mode (6 or 8 sounds at the same time)

Re: Midi sounds in multitimbral mode for Nord Stage 2
You can play 6, not 2, by assigning MIDI Channels to individual sections. There is a "Nord Stage MIDI Tutorial" document available in the downloads of this forum (link is also on the home page); I think you should read it.
However the NS is a stage piano, not a "multitimbral expander" like those General MIDI ones or other, so I am not sure it is bets fit for using with Varranger.

Re: Midi sounds in multitimbral mode for Nord Stage 2
Thank you,
I have "the Nord Stage Midi Tutorial" but it is not easy to select the good configuration for me.
My actual configuration:
Midi Global: Channel=Midi 1
Midi local control=OFF
Midi Slot A /B Channel=OFF
Midi Organ A Channel=OFF
Midi Organ B Channel=OFF
Midi Piano A Channel=OFF
Midi Piano B Channel=OFF
Midi Synth A Channel= 16
Midi Synth B Channel= 15
Midi Dual KB Channel= USB16 (OFF: I am connected in Midi plug)
Midi Prog Change Mode = Send&Receive
Midi Ctrl Change Mode = Send&Receive
Send Midi Ctrl = Slot B
Dump Program=One
Dump Synth = Slot B
With this configuration, synth A and B are Ok (playing sounds) . But if i put synth A and B = OFF and Midi Piano A =16 and Piano B =15 or Midi Organ A=16 and Midi Organ B=15 not ok (no sounds)
It is difficult for me to understand this operation. It is not logical!

Re: Midi sounds in multitimbral mode for Nord Stage 2
It is absolutely logical based on how the NS2 is designed and if you read the manual you will see that you cannot assign the same channel to different sections, otherwise it gets disabled until you restart the NS. Besides the section must be active in a Program (if you assign no zones it will play only via MIDI). So the best approach is to assign distinct channels to each section, not reuse the same 2, then create Programs where the Section(s) you want to control only via MIDI are turned On but with zones disabled.

Re: Midi sounds in multitimbral mode for Nord Stage 2
Thank you,
I listen 3 instruments with this configuration:
Midi Global: Channel=Midi 16
Midi local control=OFF
Midi Slot A Channel=OFF
Midi Slot B Channel=OFF
Midi Organ A Channel=1
Midi Organ B Channel=4
Midi Piano A Channel=2
Midi Piano B Channel=5
Midi Synth A Channel= 3
Midi Synth B Channel= 6
Midi Dual KB Channel= USB16 (OFF: I am connected in Midi plug)
Midi Prog Change Mode = Send&Receive
Midi Ctrl Change Mode = Send&Receive
Send Midi Ctrl = Slot B
Dump Program=One
Dump Synth = Slot B
But, it is impossible to modify "program change" from vArranger (only with the keyboard).
Could you give me an exemple of good configuration.
Thanks.

This config is good enough for your purpose, of course as said a Section must be active (turned on) even if it has to be played via MIDI only; you have to send Program Changes on Global (channel 16 in your current config), Bank Change LSB = 0..3 (A..D banks of NS2)
