Nord Stage 3 Layering and Splitting

Post by Dusque »

I just received the Nord Stage 3 HP 76 and started setting up my Live Mode (as I am a gigging musician). Needing a little advice on Splitting. Can you pick the exact note where the split occurs, or do you have to use the zones that are available? Also, looking for the best way to configure a Live Mode setting that has Piano across the board, Bass on the left and Accordion or Strings on the right. Any step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Thx a bunch

You can only assign splits to those points marked by the LEDs.

To do what you ask:

Press the split button to create two regions.

Hold the Split button and twist the knob to select the split point. You can press the > soft button beneath the display to go into the split blend setting, where you can decide for each split point whether to have a hard cut, a medium blend (over 7 semitones IIRC, or a wide blend (12 semitones). The LED will change colour to indicate the kind of split.

Assign your piano to be playable across all splits (double-tap the piano on/off button).

Make sure both slots are active (both LEDs lit, the one currently edited from the front panel flashing).

In one slot, activate the synth and select an accordion preset. Assign that synth to the upper split region (repeatedly double-tap the synth on/off switch).

In the other slot, activate the synth and select a bass patch. Assign that synth to the lower region.

Does that make sense?

Basic introduction to splits is also in the user manual, starting page 12, lower right.

Hi and welcome. See below for links to a few quick step-by-step videos on splits. As you'll see, you can quickly set the keyboard up in up to as many as 4 zones, adjust the split points (using the pre-determined split points) and then assign any of the 6 available sound engines (2 organ, 2 piano, 2 synth) to any individual zone or group of contiguous zones.

Besides knowing how to set up splits, remember that Live Mode isn't the place for sounds you will want to use again in the future. Regardless of whether or not you begin assembling your setups in Live Mode (which is not a requirement, btw), you want to be sure to save them as new Programs so you can always call them up again (unaltered) in the future. In Live Mode, any time you change anything while playing, it is essentially auto-saved, you can't easily get back to the way it was, and that's presumably not what you want in this case.

an information please, is it possible to assign a split point different from the various Led illuminated on the keyboard ??
For example, if I have a plan with a C4 split. is it possible to have another split point for example at D4 or E4 ?? Thanks so much
