Sample Library 2.0 vs 1.0
Hello,
Considering that the two sample formats are supported by the same set of keyboards and they seem to have the same set of sounds (including the Mellotron & Chamberlin) :
- what is the benefit of format 2.0 ?
- is there an interest to still use the format 1.0 ?
Thanks for any explanation.

Re: Sample Library 2.0 vs 1.0
The 1.0 format is practically "dead" as all Nord keyboards supporting .nsmp had their OS upgraded to support also the 2.0 (even the discontinued Nord Wave), the 2.0 main improvements are a better compression (if I remember well) and the "Sample Category" attribute support (this for sure).

Thanks. That's what I also thought.maxpiano wrote:The 1.0 format is practically "dead" as all Nord keyboards supporting .nsmp had their OS upgraded to support also the 2.0 (even the discontinued Nord Wave)
That's strange that Nord leave their sound library in an obsolete format still downloadable. This is confusing for new user like me.
Maybe it's for users that don't want / haven't upgrade the OS of their keyboards ??

I think I found many sounds available only in first format. It's good to find any sound, old or new.
NE5D, NLA1, BS2, Boog, TX81Z, JV-1080, A33, AX-Synth, PC3K6, M350, BeatstepP. etc.

That's good to know.
It's a pity that Nord has not upgraded all the samples to the new format.

The Sample Converter works on the Nord Sample Library Archive too, so NS3 (and future NE6) users will be able to use any of the samples posted.

Re: Sample Library 2.0 vs 1.0
regarding the the Electro 6 and Stage 3..
They are using the same format..
Will there be a firmware update that allows all Electros to also use the new format?
I just bought a new Electro 5D 73 last week and was wondering...Should I have waited to get the new Electro 6D?

Re: Sample Library 2.0 vs 1.0
No announcement has been made, but the safer assumption would be that the NE5 will not be updated to support the new format.

Re: Sample Library 2.0 vs 1.0
The file size of version 2.0 is less than 1.0.
I believe you have a larger file compression, audibly they seem to be the same.

Re: Sample Library 2.0 vs 1.0
All nords that support samples can use v1.0 samples. Unless you have a very old (pre-wave) nord, it will support v2.0 too. The very latest nords (stage 3 and later) support 3.0 samples.
