How to hear samples/sounds library before loading them?

Yes, that it would be great. Perhaps not easy to make it work in practice: imagine that you want sampled sounds over ranges of keys where there are no original existing samples, but the 'sound' comes from their interpolations of samples located at other keys. Where would the (inexistent) sample be stored?
