Using Nord Stage 2 as motherboard

Postby Grabows » 15 Nov 2011, 00:23

Hello.
I am going to buy Nord Stage 2, but first I would like to know if its possible to send different program change data out to other synths modules on different midi channels in each program ?

Example :
I would like to send midi data out to a vocoder just from my left hand split. In the same time I would like to send midi out and program change to a synth module also from left hand, and maybe send on a different midi channel in my right hand split to another module.
I now do those things on an old Korg 01W, where I can do this on 8 different midi channels, and make split as I like.....
Is that possible on Nord Stage 2 ?

friendly.

Yes, except the NS2 only supports up to 2 MIDI assignments ("EXT") per patch, not 8 like the Korg. Your 3-external-device example could work if you put your vocoder and your other left-hand synth module on the same MIDI channel. (Also be aware that splits can only be specified between B and C keys, and between E and F keys.)

Just to be shure about the split points....

Your are writing that split only can be made between B and C or E and F keys. Thats okay I normally split between B and C.
But can you choose yourself in which octave you split. Normally I split so I just have about 2 octaves for left hand. I hope thats possible ?

Yes, splits points are available between every B-and-C and between every E-and-F.

Hello again.
I have Now Got my new Nordstage 2/76.
And I am making programs and so....
I Got a question about recieving program change from another device.
I use use NS 2 both as Master and Slave.
That is : Using extern to send to my old Korg 01RW module, with program change and so... And to a TC Vocalist.
That works fine, but now the question :
I also want to be able to play from my Motif XF, thats why I have made some programs in Dual Keyboard mode, where the slot B is the Sound played fro my Motif
It works okay Playing from the Motif, but I can't get the NS 2 to make the program changes, I send from my Motif.
I have set the receive program change to on, and the midi channel is right, but can't get it to work....
Andy good ideas please ?

Friendly

Hello again.
I think that a solved the problem myself....
I have changed the midi channel for slot B to the same as my Motif XF, and now I can change the programs...
I just thought that it was enough to set the Dual channel and the global channel.....

by the way :
Is there someone who know the values for Bank change on NS 2 ?

I solved that about the banks also...

I found this in another post... and it works fine.....
Just if anyone else need it :-)

To adres the Progamchanges from the NS2 in
Bank A: You need to put bank select MSB = 0 and LSB = 0
Bank B: You need to put bank select MSB = 0 and LSB = 1
Bank C: You need to put bank select MSB = 0 and LSB = 2
Bank D: You need to put bank select MSB = 0 and LSB = 3
Programchange 100, 101, 102, 103, 104 are allway the live mode. The banknumbers are not working there
