Hi all,
I have a stage2ex compact and am considering the 3 when, and only when, nord fixes the issue with being able to load in user samples (need them for most of my sets so can't upgrade until its done). I really like the keys on my compact, but I would really like an 88 note as I am trying to have only 1 keyboard on stage. Does anyone know if it is feasible to buy a set of 88 keys which are the same as those on the compact and then replace the weighted ones on the 88?
If so, are there any customisation companies out there that will do it for me?
Thanks!
GM

Re: How to swap an entire keybed?
I do know that the keybed for the NS3C is a chopped 73 note keybed from Fatar. I don't think they even make an 88 key version of their SW Waterfall action. I suppose with extensive modification anything's possible, but I highly doubt there is any kind of drop-in keybed that would span a full 88 note range.

Perhaps Fatar do a 76 note then and I could drop it into the mid-sized stage3. If anyone knows any custom builders that do this kind of work please do let me know...

Better check with Clavia directly which Fatar is in each of the keyboard and ask them about replacement compatibility.

I would be surprised if they can be exchanged... and then you have the problem of the keybed calibration. (Shown in one old Clavia video).

Re: How to swap an entire keybed?
Yeah, forget it, for a bunch of reasons.
Assuming the reported issues regarding MIDI response when driving an NS3 externally are addressed, you might be able to kind of simulate that by removing the action from an NS3-88, and laying a NumaCompact 2 into the hole (driving the Nord via MIDI), with velcro to keep it in place. Choice of stand might be important, and you might have to alter the left and right end pieces to accommodate. If the NS3 is like the NS2, IIRC, the board will work without having any keys installed, though it will put up an error message. But double check that before making any permanent changes!
