Speculation on Lead A2 announcement / release?

Post by djnafai »

Heyo, very new to Nord here, do they tend to generate buzz well in advance of a release of a new model? Is there a particular industry show that they have used as a platform for launching new products maybe? I had an A1 briefly in 2015 and have regretted getting rid of it ever since. But I hate buying at the end of a product cycle, so wondering if it's worth waiting a few months.

Nord does not broadcast its intentions when releasing new products, in my experience. Just get what fits your needs.

I just got an A1 8 weeks ago, and trust me, it will reward you for a long time. Has a gorgeous sound and is very easy to program.

Often new products have been introduced on NAMM show - https://www.namm.org/thenammshow/2018

But I think they have to much work to do on the Stage3 now - so I will be supriced if they come up with an A2 in January.

Usually new products are announced either at NAMM (January) or MusikMesse (April).

Clavia has a tradition of releasing teasers well in advance, at least one or two days before!

Anyway, if the A1 did everything you needed, get it. No point in waiting something that may come out in 2 months, or in two years, or never.

As mentioned in another post, I am hoping for a A1x with 61 keys and maybe aftertouch...

I think these two features are requested by many potential customers and the development effort should be pretty small.

Cheers

+1, any 61 Keys from Clavia for Synth is a big plus for me...

Yeah, it's the "needed" bit that makes this less critical than say, buying a computer for work. I always give people the same advice in situations like that. If you need a new computer, buy it now, and buy the best you are willing to pay for at the time, rather than dealing with troubled equipment on the hope of a new hardware release. But at best music is a hobby for me, so this is the "want" column. ;) Since there is no special pricing on the A1 currently, I don't have an impetus to buy today.

I hadn't thought about the Stage 3 eating up engineering. And with the Stage 3 as a new flagship, if the A2 were right around the corner, you'd think they'd hold it back to include the A2 engine, right?

That said, NAMM could be fun. Good excuse to go to Disneyland too. :D
