I am stuck at boot up as well, about 30% in. Using OS 1.24. Did not have this problem with previous OS versions. Nothing at all connected to it. Will continue to research and try solutions.

I just experience this as well:

I received a replacement for my original NS3 because of the mod wheel issue. Here is what happened with the new unit:

1. Updated OS from 1.12 to 1.24
2. Deleted all the factory programs
3. Deleted the samples I was not using.
4 Loaded my custom programs
5. Checked all the mod wheel morphs, worked perfectly no jumping of the level LEDs like before.
6. Switched off unit
7. Switched unit back on, it stopped booting 1/3 way, progress bar just stopped, no error, just a static boot screen (not black)
8. Called Nord Support, booted into test mode and downgraded to 1.22
9. When unit rebooted, same problem.
10. Switched off unit.
11. Turned on unit, booted normally.
12. I have booted 12-15 more times, all normal.

Only Power and USB was connected during these tests-

Hi guys,

I am the one who started this thread. My (fortunately very rare) boot problem seems to be different than yours. It has only happened couple times and I’ve had my NS3C for two months. In fact it occured on the very first boot after unpacking. Difference is this: mine was totally black, so first idea was that I had a broken power cable. But it was something else. I contacted Nord and they advised me to return it and let them check the main board etc. Because I have quite a lot of gigs at the moment, I’ll take a small risk and keep it at least for a while. If it does this again (even though very rarely), I’ll send it to service.

Many of us know that there was a boot issue related to pedals with earlier OS. This was more like your issue: boot and progress bar got stucked. But that was supposed to corrected in same of these later OS.

Strange things happening, all I can say... lot of issues.

SOLVED!! Re: NS3C Occational problem with powering the unit

Post by phatmann »

I installed OS 1.26 (just released) and my unit boots up just fine now!

What a relief!

Props to Pablo at Nord support, who figured out that 1.24 was the problem.

Anyway, loaded 1.26, so far looks good, will reboot many times between now and my gig tonight, but I feel much more confident now!

Murphy wrote:I've had every update from 1.0 up to the current level of 1.22, and after I went to 1.22 I started having boot-up issues. Twice now, I've gotten stuck with the screen frozen at the beginning of the boot-up cycle. I see the OLED and some red lights, but the whole unit freezes and the OLED progress bar is stuck at the beginning. To be fair, I'm beginning to connect external synths and use different CV and sustain pedals, so maybe that's the issue. The reason why I recycled my NS3C is that it stopped sending MIDI out to an external synth (which I guess is potentially a different problem) -- even though I changed no pedals or MIDI cable connections prior to the power cycle. I tried the Midi Panic button prior to the power recycle, but it did nothing to help. Anyway, I'm wondering if there's something during the boot-up process in the latest update, V1.22 that is causing the problem. I don't know if that's the case because it could be that I'm just doing a lot more with my new keyboard. Once the keyboard powered back up, the MIDI problem was gone.
I have an NS3 HP76 (about a month old) and I just started having problems with program memory (most of my programs were gone with an "Unknown Error" message). When I tried to restore it, it bombed during the restore and now it doesn't get half way through the boot sequence before it hangs and does nothing. Also, the Sound Manager won't recognize it at that point in the boot sequence. It is at OS 1.22. When you were having problems booting, were you able to get it back to a bootable machine? If so, how did you do it?

I'm kind of desperate at this point.
Thanks,
Ottomatic
