I think the best and fastest solution for live use with one hand is to create a long-press function on the monitor button that puts all knobs and drawbars in passthru mode (non-snapping) and the screen in knob-display mode, showing the current value of the the parameter you turn, together with the corresponding value of the knob position, to enable us to align the knob position to the current value before starting to change the sound, and then let the shift btn or a short monitor button press escape from this view. This would be really handy, so you can pull up this when you need it. I very often need to do a small adjustment on my filter freq when playing live. This is sooo easy on the NS2EX, but on the NS3 it is actually not possible, as there is no way of aligning the values without changing the sound.
Passthru means that the sound start changing when the knob position passes through the point/position of the the current parameter value. Yes, Quai34, it's the same as thru mode on the DSI synths.
Well, there is one way you could align the knobs, but it only works on the parameters that are morphable. Do like this: 1) Double-press one of the 3 morph buttons 2) Turn the knob/drawbar you want until the lower part of the screen says: To: None 3) Press shift 4) Now the knob/drawbar is aligned so you can start moving it The morph will show you your current knob value together with the value corresponding to your knob position. I wish Clavia would do the same kind of functionality with the monitor button (double-click or long-click), to work on all knobs, or at least show both values in the Oled display when using the monitor button.
Definitely +1 for some catch/thru/relative option for the knobs. Absolutely love everything about the NS3 compact except the missing led rings on filter/résonance and the fx section. Oh well, some many other fantastic additions that I have no regrets about upgrading. But at least being able to turn knobs when playing live without the drastic sound differences.. ideally a choice of modes for knob behavior and the saved value being displayed somewhere as soon as you touch a knob...
