Hi guys,
Does anyone have any cheaper alternatives to the option Nord give for a stand as a part of the User Manual? It's going to cost me somewhere near 90 pound to be able to get it all set up.
I have 1 Pearl Clamp from an old kit currently available, which I can sit the Nord Pad on. Just need some sort of clamp/boom to attach my Nord Pad too.
In addition, i'm trying to create sounds for certain songs which I need some assistance with. I'm playing and testing out all the different features on the Nord Drum 2, however I cannot achieve the sounds I need.
Songs like Insomnia by Faithless (There's a siren like sound i'm looking to create, a hiss-like white noise sound)
In addition, is there anyway to add samples through the Nord Pad? Or is it simply creating percussive sounds?
Any information on the above would be great!
Alex

Re: Alternative Drum 2 and Pad Stand / Creating Sounds
Hi Barghen!
I can't give you much advise on the hardware. I took a cymbal stand, and replaced the top part(s) with a Pearl UX80 Universal Holder, to hold the ND2. The Pad is held by a Pearl AX-25L Multi Clamp. Not the cheapest solution
With the ND2 you can program all sorts of sounds, but it can't play back audio samples,
However, you can connect a sampler to the ND2 with a MIDI cable.
So, if you want to trigger samples with the Nord Pad you'll need the following setup:
Nord Pad -> Nord drum2 -> sampler
Faithless! There is a lot of noise based percussive things going on in that song, I'm not sure though what you mean with the siren sound..
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Alternative Drum 2 and Pad Stand / Creating Sounds
Albert, what a legend for replying. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
I've seemed to have resolved this situation. I had an old stand hanging around and an older version like the Pearl ADP-20 to put the NP2 on, and I bought myself a Pearl AX-25 adapter as stated. So its only costed me 33 quid. Happy days eh?
Theres a Youtube video that demonstrates a hissing-like sound for one of the six pads, a flat sounding snare sound for another and then theres this siren sound. Heres the youtube clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izk6MKw7Yfk. Scroll to 1:35 and you'll here what i mean..
Thanks for replying again dude. Look forward to a reply.

Hi Barghen!
I'm sorry, youtube gives me an error when I click on your link
Is it the album version (nearly 9 minutes long) or the shorter version (3 and a half minute) ?

Any old cymbal stand will work of course but when It comes to clamps I think Mapex makes price worthy multi-purpose clamps. Like the long AC903 or MC903.

Watch on youtube.com
Use a 1.5"tube to 7/8" clamp for the module and clamp for the pad. You can buy these from ebay.

For the sampler, hook it up to your DAW and create a drum rack to play samples e.g in Ableton / bitwig etc.. Cheap.. hardware wise. Roland SPX modules perhaps. Note that SPX modules have fixe dnote numbers so so need to change note number on your ND2.

Re: Alternative Drum 2 and Pad Stand / Creating Sounds
Thanks all for your input.
I'm all sorted now in regards to a stand and a set up.
I think i'll be getting the Nord Beat to loop sounds soon, so that'll be interesting.
I'm looking to create a proper bass drop like sound; the kind that you use in a lot of popular music.
Any one know any precise settings to help me set one up? in advance.
