I have been a Motif user my whole musical career (50 years) thinking of moving over tot he Nord Electro 5D 73 - couple of questions - can you layer more than two sounds - i.e. piano/organ/strings? Also, is there a non-vibrato fiddle sound available? Calypso Steel Drums sound?

If you want to layer more than two sounds, you either need to find a layered sample or get a Nord Stage.

The Stage, however, has two slots of three engines each — so two synth/sample engines, two pianos, and two organs. These can be split and layered, but if you want to layer, say, three synths, you're outta luck.

This may seem limited, but it makes for the most straightforward and direct interface, and thus the most enjoyable programming in the industry, IMHO.
