There are 20+ Mellotron and Chamberlin samples at the bottom of the list. You do still have nearly 40MB available in the Sample memory too load ones not included.

I'm curious, does the fact that many of the acoustic samples are MONO have a major impact on the sound? What is the physical limitations of using a Stereo sample on the NORDS?

I have download the Nord Stage 3 piano bank zip file and unzip it. Then I loaded the new digi and layerpiano in to my Stage 2EX and can confirm that it works fine.
Best Regards// Stefan.

Awesome will try those on my NP2. No sign of the famous "Gospel Collection" - I bet Roland put the kibosh on that one. :-)

I was able to unzip and download all the new layered and digi pianos into my Stage 2 HA 76. A few things to note. The 2 digital pianos will download into EP2 bank using the sound manager without any issues. However, the layered pianos all looks if they are downloading into the EP2 bank but will not show up anywhere. But you can tell they were downloaded into the instrument because the memory has been used up. I was concerned at first because my memory had been used up but could not find the instrument. I had to close my sound manger and re-open it. When i did so, the layered pianos were actually located in the Grand bank. But you can still play them just fine. They are interesting but don't know if they are keepers, maybe the Silver.

When I used the Sound manager v6.90, I could not see the layer pianos in the list, only the digi pianos. But when I upgrade to v7.02 I could see all of them.
Best regards// Stefan.

Confirming that the 2 digi and 4 layer pianos can be loaded into an NE5D.

I'm keeping Digi 1 for those moments where I need to play Michael McDonald's "Sweet Freedom" :-)

They will sound like they're in mono. Meaning that, apart from any stereo effects you might use, if you're playing through two speakers, the same sound will be coming out of both.

kbrkr wrote:What is the physical limitations of using a Stereo sample on the NORDS?

Mono samples use half the memory of stereo samples. In most cases, the original sounds are mono, so there would be no advantage to sampling in stereo, all it would do is double the memory needed, for no benefit.

For example, most vintage keyboards (mellotron, minimoog, etc.) are mono instruments, there is no stereo signal to sample. Most solo acoustic instruments (flute, violin, trumpet, etc.) are also essentially mono... additional "breadth" is from room reflections, and that's what you use reverb for (or the actual reflections in the room that your playback system is in).
