Here is a picture of just the stand with the second tier shelves in place. To keep the upper keyboard from sliding off, I bought a few of those gummy pads that people use to keep their cell phones on the car dashboard:
Side picture to show how close the keyboards can get:
Picture of just the tiers. I created paper templates then cut the wood to match. It's finished with black paint and polyurethane. They just slide into the posts of the stand, and I can remove them at any time:
This picture shows the stand with two keyboards stacked. The top keyboard overhangs the lower one by a bit, but you can see they are very close together. I like the compact look:
Finally, here is a picture from a rehearsal. Pardon the messy wires, as I usually route and tie them down, but this was a sloppy setup mostly for a sound check. The important thing here is that you can see the cord at the bottom in front of the sustain pedal that allows me to open the stand to the same width every time.

Mike, that's awesome! I have seen those pictures before, maybe on the KC forum. You did a really nice job with that. Thanks.

Re: Nord Stage keyboard stand??
Thanks. Inspiration came from my old Invisible Stand, which was one of the best keyboard stands I've ever owned. I still have mine from the 80's. It's unfortunately a bit too tall for seated playing.

Re: Nord Stage keyboard stand??
This is a great solution for a seated player. I stand, so it would not work for me.
I also have two Insivible Keyboard stands from the 80s. They are still holding up my studio:

The K&M 18880 does rise to suit a standing player. I have it set to the lowest setting.

Re: Nord Stage keyboard stand??
The standtastic stands are fully adjustable. Could be set for seated or standing height. I use mine at a standing height. I have two matching stands. One stays at our rehearsal studio, the other stays with the rest of the live rig equipment.
I haven't finished modifying the 3 tier stand yet as I'm still uncertain if I'm going to add a 3rd keyboard to my rig. Currently just using the Alesis QS8.2 and the NE5D. Been seriously considering the Stage 3, but will wait until the dust settles a bit and Nord has had time to iron out the bugs.
I included a picture of the 3-tier stand just for reference.

Mothaba wrote:I own the "Nord's legs" and it is very stable, BUT the keyboard is too high now. It is not IMO the right height to play comfortably.
I use the smallest extensions available and still it is higher than a regular acoustic piano : I have troubles finding the correct position...
Does anyone else share the same opinion ?

I am 171cm tall. Regular acoustic piano is Ok from height point of view but the nord stand with the smallest extensión is a bit high.

Re: Nord Stage keyboard stand??
Buy a can of satin red spray paint. That's what I did with mine. Matches perfectly!
