Picked up my new NP3 yesterday and set it up last night at home. First impressions:- I have played quite a few Stage/digital pianos in my time, but I have never experienced anything like this. It IS like playing a real piano. The sounds have real character - the other main makes of pianos are good, if somewhat bland, but the Nord's are way above them. Any negatives? I felt the dges of the keys are a little sharp, but I will have to improve my technique!!
What i would really like to be able to do at home is to reproduce the piano sounds as they truly deserve to be. I have Yamaha HS80 monitors which are good - are there any better out there, or could someone suggest a way to go?
Impressed with the quality build of the piano too - it's class!!!

If you want to waste money there are a lot of alternatives, HS80 are more than enough, high quality monitors rich in details

If you are willing to consider the French brand Focal, I have never heard any monitors that sounded better. Yamaha is fine, but not my favorite. I would look at the Focal Alpha 50s or 65s or if you have the money, the Focal Shape 50s or 65s. Fantastic sound that beats monitors that are priced at double. If you can find the older Focal CMS 65s, those are what I use with my Nord's at home. Don't neglect a good pair of headphones too, Sony MDR 7520 is fantastic for the price.
Cheers and congrats, my new Nord Piano 3 arrives next week, can't wait! I sent back an RD-2000 for it (the RD had some problems).

Mine sounded great on Mackie HR-828's and Sennheiser headphones.

+1 for Focal, great monitors, I hesitated a lot between them, the CMS65 and the Genelec 8040a and finally went for the Genelec. I have the Sony 7510, which is the previous model right? Compared to the 7520...Very good for a 100$ headphone but quite harsh for me in the high's, especially if you play for 3/4 hours A. Piano....And they are not that much comfortable...In Fact, I use their crazy detailed accuracy to check any single track and to listen to strong EQUING with them before mixing, but I use the Audio-Technica Hm50 something...Smoother on the ears for long listening periods of time, I think.

Nice move Quai34 on the Piano 3. I love mine. Using Yamaha HS7s with HS8S sub. I have Senn HD280s which are great for isolation, but I LOVE the sound of my AKG K240s with my keyboards. I know the K240s have been around forever, but they are incredibly comfortable and sound great.

Genelec! We've auditioned all the mentioned brands. While many are HiFi tuned, the Genelec have a flat freq. output and will give the best sound. It's as easy as that!
