Vox volume unusably low
Hello, I have a Nord Stage 2 EX and when I switch the Vox organ on, the sound is so low it is not usable for gigs. This doesn't happen to the other organs, and I often split an organ sound with piano, but even with no splits and just Vox selected the sound is really low. Does anyone know if this is a bug or how I can fix it?
Re: Vox volume unusably low
Are you running in stereo or mono? Could be a phase cancellation issue, especially with low quality headphone adapters.

Re: Vox volume unusably low
It happens in either Stereo or Mono, it' has been like that since I bought it approx 9 months ago.
Re: Vox volume unusably low
I've just downloaded some organ samples and the Vox ones play with correct volume levels, so I have a workaround at least to be able to modify those programs for use
Re: Vox volume unusably low
Does it happen also with the Vox factory presets? Have you tried pulling all drawbars to the max and/or applying Amp/Eq?

Re: Vox volume unusably low
Hello
I had the same experience, Vox organ sound was too thin compared to the others until I used the compressor (compressor can boost organ volume "almost" without changing the sound).
Easy to do, you should give it a try.
And please do not forget to check your pedals: A common mistake is to plug the "rotor speed" pedal into "organ swell" input, which lends to a drastically reduced organ volume (at least on B3).
My two cents,
Regards

Re: Vox volume unusably low
I have created some Vox sounds that are massively huge and cut through the mix even better than the Nord's Hammond. It has been a while, so I don't remember all that I did to create these...I believe a combination of overdrive and EQ. I'd be glad to share a sound or two on the forum once I'm back with my instrument. There is also a source online with a bunch of combo organ Programs someone did for the NS2 - I believe maybe on Nord's website. I downloaded these and found a ton of inspiration there.

Re: Vox volume unusably low
I had the same feeling about all the Vox/Farfisa programs from Clavia. All the factory programs seem to be normalized against a certain volume, while the Vox/Farfisa programs seem to all be about 65% of that.
Thanks for the suggestions in this thread about loudening them without distortion.
