Hi,
I am having some issues with equalising the output sound levels on all my programs when playing live. Some, are always lower even when each engine is on full. I find this particularly on programs using brass samples. I tend to use them with a split and/or layer with other engines on different parts of the keyboards. I have experimented with using the compressor, but have had only moderate success. i have a stage2ex.
How do you do it live?
Thanks!

Re: Equalising sound levels
Turn everything down 20%-30% and start again, so you have some headroom. If your engines are already at full you have no room to change anything. Creating multiple patches with different balances for soft or loud songs sometimes helps too.
Monitor in several places - headphones, your onstage speakers, and FOH if possible. Small differences become larger the louder you play. If you can get someone else to play your rig and stand out front to listen, that is a usually an eye-opener.
Be aware that summing to mono will radically alter your perceived mix, especially if you are setting levels at home in headphones in stereo.

Re: Equalising sound levels
Levelling is a finicky and painful art, especially since relative volumes can change completely with a different room or PA.
It took me a few weeks to get the sounds programmed for a top-40 rock showband. It took me a few MONTHS to get the levels right.
