USB port into electro5
Trying to plug USB plug into board and will not work.It looks like there is a plastic piece in the plug,do I need to pull that out?

Welcome to the Forum.
The Nords use a USB 2.0 Type "B" connector. The center tab holds the contacts for the connector so must not be removed. You need the correct cable (USB Type A to Type B) to connect the Nord to a PC.
If that center piece is moving around, it's been damaged and the entire connector needs to be replaced.

What exactly are you expecting to happen? The electro will transmit MIDI data, but not audio.
