Any rumors of a Stage 2 HP?

Post by supersatish »

Hi All,

Just wondering if there are any rumors of a Stage 2 HP version? This would be ideal - all the features of the Stage, easier on the back, but more piano-like action than the Compact. They'd get my money!

-Thx,
Satish

When I first saw this post, I wondered just how much lighter 3 keys could be, 73 verses 76?
According to the specs, the NE3 HP is almost 5.5 Kg lighter than the NS2 76.

They'd get more of my money too..

Maybe the HP keys are something similar to those semi-weighted keys from the Kurzweil SP76/88
But, I just wish that they could make a 76 waterfall keys.

I think it's a similar technique that Roland start using a couple of years ago. Read the text about "Compact Progressive Hammer-Action Keyboard" on this page...

Has anyone asked Nordkeyboards about this? A Nord Stage 2 HP would be ideal for me (and many others).

+1!!
I am still undecided of which way to go. I really like the compactness of the COMPACT, but weighted action is sometimes missed. But I definitively need the multitimbrality and Synth Section so the NE3HP is not for me at the moment.
So a Nord Stage 2 Compact HP could be a great compromise. However, I doubt it is gonna happen this year. Probably they are quite busy getting the NS2s and now the NE3HP out, putting up production numbers, working on bug fixes etc. But maybe next spring??

Hi!

I actually emailed Clavia and got a response on this very subject.
Thought I publish it here...

Hi,

We rarely give comments to suggestions like this, but I can tell you that much that we do not have any plans on a Stage model with HP keys at present state. Partly due to that it lacks aftertouch.

Best regards,

However, the Nord Electro 3 HP lacks the synthpart as well as other preferences that I search for. This currently stops me from being a Nord user :-)

No, fully weighted. Like the Kurzweil SP4-8, but not like the semi-weighted in the SP4-7.

I'd have settled for a 73 that went C-to-C instead of F-to-F. I just need that low E for left hand bass splits! I know they said they couldn't go to E because that key doesn't physically exist from their supplier, but high and low C keys definitely do, as they use them on their 61s...

Well, aftertouch can be added to the mechanism they use in the HP, as I believe it is the same mechanism as in the Numa Nano, which has aftertouch. So while it's true that it could not be the *exact* same board as the HP, it could be a variation with comparable size and weight. (That said, I think the Numa Nano action does not feel as good as the NS2 action, but there's always going to be trade-offs...)
