Electro 2 rack

Postby huw1952 » 16 May 2017, 14:23

A question from a newbie to Nord - I really love the nord piano samples, in particular the Yamaha C7. I was thinking of buying a Piano 3, but have had bad experiences with all the Fatar keybeds I have ever used. Is it possible to install the C7 sample into the Electro 2 rack and then use a midi controller?
Thanks
Huw

No, Electro2 does not support the Nord Piano Library, only its own factory samples.

huw1952, I am a former Electro 2 enthusiast, most recently with a rack module, and never found the acoustic pianos satisfactory. I graduated to the Electro 5 with its marvelous acoustic pianos. But I had tried the Nord hp keyboard, and found it stiff. The waterfall keyboard if fine for e pianos and organ, but not satisfactory for acoustic piano by a long shot.

I use a Yamaha P255 as a midi driver for the E5 acoustic pianos now. This involves stacking the two keyboards, but makes for a fine piano experience. The Electro 2 will never do for acoustic pianos, I fear, and I am not sure which model can accommodate the latest acoustics available on the the E5. I am sure someone on the board will tell us.

The current Nord Piano LIbrary is supported by NE3 and subsequent. As a general rule, the later the model is, the more memory it has. And the later sampels are, the bigger they are.
In my former NE3-73, I used to store a couple of grands and an upright probably in M-size as well as 3-4 EPs and the clavinet.

Thank you both for replying. Sounds like Yamaha P255 and E5 is a good combo. Have listened to E5 piano sounds on youtube - as good as the Piano 3 I think.
