Endlessly noodling around with my Lead2X (and loving it more every minute), I stumbled upon a factory patch and noticed that ALL the "filter type" LEDs were lighted.
This is not described in the manual and doesn't correspond to any of the filter modes shown on the panel. Actually, this was not supposed to be possible at all!
After a brief moment of panic believing the instrument had gone nuts, I turned the keyboard off and on again, changed to a different program, came back... And still the LEDs were all on.
Checked the patch on the manual and guess what...it's named "Super secret filter pad"!!!
The guys at Clavia were smart in burying it into one of the last program banks...it takes a lot of perseverance to get there!
I checked on the internet and it's a known easter egg, but it's seldom mentioned and I didn't find that it was ever discussed here, so I thought it deserved its own thread.
You get to the secret filter by pressing Shift+Filter Type.
It seems to be a Notch+HP filter, and it also happens to sound great!
Resonance is very subtle and it doesn't go into self oscillation, but the sound is very full and it sits great with distorsion and/or unison.
My Lead2X never cease to amaze me!!!

I think it's only in the older Leads, the 1, 2 and 2X.
At least, that's what I could guess from the brief mentions I found in a couple of synth forums

Anyway, it's not just a hidden weirdness left there as a joke, I find it quite useful. Not as versatile as other filter types maybe, but very musical.

Thanks Adam, I never owned a Lead 1 or 2 so I was just guessing.
I knew about Pelle mode but not about the filter bypass option.
Nice that they differentiated the 1/2/2X in these small hidden tricks!

Hi, thanks for that.
Just wanted to say, almost 6 years later, that I was doing a search for the Pelle mode and this comment came up, and I feel I need to thank you.
That is one hell of a useable patch!
I've only owned this 2X for 2 months and it keeps surprising me.

Re: Nord Lead 2X easter egg: secret filter type
Hahaha thanks so much for the consideration!
It's something anybody can find, either by going through the factory patches or by trying all the shift+button combos...but you have to look for it!
Anyway I agree, it's a nice filter option. It doesn't have the same range and versatility of the other filters, with it patches tend to sound more or less all the same...but it's a great "all the same" sound!
And I agree that the 2X seems such a simple synth, but with morphing and layering it's much deeper than it looks, the more you dig into it the more it keeps on giving!
