Hello, I recently bought a Nord Electro 5D and I was trying to use a Roland sustain pedal (I don't remember the exact model of the pedal).
I was using this pedal for my Roland keyboard and it worked perfectly,
but when it is plugged to the Electro it seems like half-pedaling doesn't work, the sustain is either on or off.
That wasn't the case with my Roland keyboard.
Is this the pedals fault or the keyboard's fault?
Is there a pedal that allows half-pedaling on the Electro 5D?
Thanks

Re: Electro 5d sustain half-pedal issue
Nope. Half-pedalling doesn't work on the e5. Not even via midi.

Seriously?! That's a big deal. I can't believe they didn't put half-pedaling in such an expensive instrument.

It's in the stage and the piano (two seriously expensive instruments)

Re: Electro 5d sustain half-pedal issue
This is something I was curious about too, so now I have my answer. That's a shame. And it's not as though the top of the line Electro 5 HP is that much less expensive than the Piano 3 or some of the Stage 2's.
Still, Clavia doesn't want to give Electro users everything that's in the Stage or less people would buy the Stage. I imagine that's probably already happened to some extent with the Electro 5's being multi-timbral. If you only need two sounds at once and you don't need separate pairs of outputs and some other features, the Electro 5 is a great choice.
As far as half-damping, it's undeniably nice for playing, but for recording I've found it to be more trouble than it's worth. When you go to edit a performance there's a huge amount of midi damper data for a continuous half-damper pedal.

The low end Yamaha P45 digital piano has it. and it retails for $449 US. But the sound isn't even in the same ballpark with Nord.

Exactly nor it has the rest of the NE sounds/engines so we should always compare apples to apples.
PS: I don't disagree that in principle also NE may be goo do thave it, but it is well know and written in specs/manual tahy it doesn't so it is funny to me that people find this after buying.

Re: Electro 5d sustain half-pedal issue
I didn't find it in the specs btw...
It doesn't have to have the pedal foot sound or anything fancy they put in the Nord Piano, just a faster decay on half pedaling.
I'm surprised they added the pointless string res function and didn't add half pedaling.
Shame.
