Well the NE5 does have that quirk. It's not the "samples" (tonewheels) but the rotary effect. See here. Again, I wouldn't call it a problem for myself but I don't play squeaky-clean organ bass.

Now that's speculation, but my guess is that Clavia ran into a sourcing problem with 9+ position slide switches - it's 2017, who in industry would still need such a thing - and had to settle on one with a slightly shorter travel than originally intended.
And I was worried - all the way down to the ground

That was my thought, as well. It may not be "rocket science", but sourcing parts that don't exist just to satisfy some OCD individuals who expect precision that even the originals never supplied (because no one organ/Leslie's drawbar setting will ever correspond EXACTLY to another's) really doesn't make sense.

I don't think that's necessary.

Let me rephrase: the "clean B3 sound" is what I'm looking for as in this line from another post, "The Electro 4 has a much cleaner Leslie sound. I still own both. You are not the first to sell your Electro 5 because of Nord's (to me) inexplicable choice to omit a clean Leslie sound. Good luck."

And I agree, the Nord is all over the Yamaha B3 sounds. That's one reason I switched to a Nord from a MOX8 (other than the age of the board). Thanks for chiming in guys.

I was looking at old pictures of B3 sliders on Google. It seems they all stopped at the right spot, but I may be in error. I didn't know they were out of whack too. I can live with them being out slightly. Again, it's the relative position to the other draw bars that matters most of the time I guess. It's quite an art learning how to get just the right sound :)!

It must be the luck of the draw (groan). The labels on my 5D 73 show the 8th stop when everything is at max. As do the indicators on the LCD screen.

I wonder if some do not realize that the E3 and from what I hear, the E4. and the E2 all had the clean sound. THAT'S why it is so irritating to not have it on the E5.

Good point, Gman. To maintain the topic content in this thread, I have made my further comments here: nord-electro-forum-f9/electro-5-rotary-sim-compared-to-electro-4-sim-question-t11718-30.html, if you'd care to join us :). Thanks.

The slider works fine, it generates all 9 positions, there is no difficulty obtaining any setting you want, and you can see all 9 different positions indicated in the display. I think the issue, to the extent that there is one, is that the silkscreening (printing) of the numbers doesn't exactly line up with the "notches".
