Re: New electro, slight buzz?
I've owned multiple Nord keyboards over the past 10 - 12 years (Electro 2, Electro 3, Lead, Piano). I've never experienced any audible hum/buzz. I recently upgraded my Electro 3 to 5D, and it definitely has an audible hum/buzz. I believe it to be the display, not the power supply. I wish that it didn't, but it doesn't actually impact anything that I do with the keyboard.

An interesting theory. When I put my ear close to the display I can definately hear a high-frequency buzzing from it. However, the sound that I hear from my playing position is a low-frequency humming. Maybe they are two different things.

Re: New electro, slight buzz?
Hi,
I had an Electro 5, absolutly no hum. Not any noise.
Keybed was noisy but it's an other story.
Now I have a Piano 3 and it hummmmmmmssss.
No explanations for that.
I should have keep the no hum Electro 5... It seems to be a collector...
Cheers

Re: New electro, slight buzz?
After 2 years the hum still annoys me here and there when I use it at home. When I turn it on. When I turn it off. In between I am way too busy making awesome music to even notice it. Completely unoticeable in a stage or practice room setting.

Probably just the way the humming changes with your perspective, you're hearing different overtones from different reflections as you move away from it.Groovy wrote:An interesting theory. Re: New electro, slight buzz?
OLED displays sometimes employ a charge pump to generate the higher voltages needed to drive the display elements. These charge pump circuits often have audio-band harmonics. I think there's two different sources (1. Display, 2. Main Power).c0wfunk wrote:Probably just the way the humming changes with your perspective, you're hearing different overtones from different reflections as you move away from it.Groovy wrote:An interesting theory. I agree with you about how positioning/perspective change what you hear.

My Electro 673D also has a slight hum from the internal power supply. Nord should look into this although it has no effect on the amplified sound be it through an amplifier or headphones. Just annoying.
