Arp button not working with normal push. :( Stage 2 EX 76

Postby themixtape » 20 Dec 2016, 03:30

Just noticed (and this is really weird).... when I push my Arpeggiator On/Off button (grey one)... intermittently, the arp comes on, or turns off. Takes many tries (10-20 presses).

If I "massage" the button, I can usually get it on/off, each "massage."

Dust? It's right above the vents, in the back of the unit.

I thought Nord buttons were built like tanks... the whole road-worthy thing, yeah?

Can anyone offer any type of advice or help for this problem? I tend to love my arp on/off button, especially for idea-building....

Thank you so much!

EDIT: Tried spraying compressed air into the vents just behind the Arp On/Off button.... no luck.... I'm really disappointed. I actually have a guy interested in buying this from me, as I want to get a Nord Piano 73 instead (not a synth or organ guy, really)... and, until this fully works... I'm hesitant to tell him about the issue. Thanks!

Hi mixtape,

The button switches Nord uses are super high quality and failures, especially on newer instruments, are very, very rare. I can count the number of cases I've seen on two hands and have several fingers left over going back nearly seven years, and this includes heavily gigged touring and backline gear. It is always possible that a "bad apple" may have found its way into the barrel.

you are invited to contact me at my regular dayjob to discuss detailed solution possibilities

bless, pablo

Thank you Pablo. I'm taking it to my friend who fixes vintage keyboards and newer ones... he's very good. Said it shouldn't be too tough to fix.

Yeah, it's definitely rare, for sure.... Nords are built like tanks!! :)

Still no luck. We had to order a spare Nord button. Touching two wires together is a temporary fix, that turns the arp on and off (the wires are hanging out of the keyboard, temporarily). But, it doesn't always KEEP it on and off.... I sincerely hope this isn't a bigger problem than I think... thoughts?

Thanks everyone!
