I mainly play organ in a ska/reggae/soul band but i need i good piano. Can somebody recommend a piano? I cant put my finger on what exactly i doent like about the nord pianoes for reggae(for offbeat staccato playing) but they doent sound bright enough and kind of "out of tune" when played staccato. I´ve tried many of them but they doent seem right even after i´ve played around with the EQ and dynamics
Any advise would be greatly appreciate
Thanks

For staccato songs I use the BlueSwede Ostl&Alm Sml 5.3(Wonder if it works with the nord stage two)Dynamics on 3.For EQ treble to 10,mid to -8 and bass to -10.and also for compressor knob to 8.2.
I know what you mean by not "bright enough and kind of "out of tune" when played staccato".but Its your ear that says that these settings work for you.If you still have your Ex or if it works on your nord stage 2 try these settings.

Hmm, thanks, have to try that!
I'm also wondering why there is NO piano of the nord stage 2 that fits enough for playing Reggae/Ska.
I did try the Grand Imperial (Bosendorfer) & quit liked it with some EQ, but went back to my 'Rock Piano' Sample from my old Roland RD170.

In my opinion, you won't find this sound with a sample change alone.
It will require programming.
Start with: an Upright Piano sample, Mono mode, Compression, EQ, and maybe some Amp Simulator.
Many Reggae recordings just had a mic'd upright piano, or a small upright through a guitar amp.
Others used the Korg M1 and variants of the late '80s and early '90s (heavily compressed).
Just my thoughts.
Cheers, Hanon

...you could use the Korg M1 Piano from the sample library (synth section): http://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-libraries/nord-sample-library-2-0/pianos

Huh. Most of the time when I do reggae/ska, it's how do I make my piano sound as crappy as possible. Bring on the compression, amp models and effects. It is what it is.
I think I have gear issues ....
