Hello,
So here is my gear:
Stage 2 EX 88
Focusrite 6i6 audio interface
Apple MAcBook Pro (El Capitan, 10.11.6)
Logic X (10.2.4)
2 JBL 305 monitors
Here is my setup:
Ch 1 & Ch 2 out of the S2EX into the 6i6 inputs
6i6 outs (XLR) into the JBLs
5-pin midi cable from S2EX midi-out into 6i6 midi-in
USB from 6i6 into Macbook USB port
USB from S2EX into Macbook USB port
DIlemma:
After a week of trying, and not succeeding, to record multiple midi tracks into Logic and have them play back simultaneously, I finally called Focusrite support and Nord Support - but I still don't have a solution to the problem. I am at the point where midi is registering on both the Nord and the Focusrite, I have sound while recording and I can see the recording taking place. BUT, when I attempt to playback the recording, there is no sound on any of the tracks! This is beyond frustrating! My 17-year old Alesis DG8 can handle this with no problem but my 2015 S2EX is having issues? This makes no sense! I have even downloaded the MIDI tutorial from this site, which got me closer to what I need, but not across the finish line. Cam someone please help?
Thanks,
WA2388

Re: Midi recording sound-output issues
I think you are now double MIDI connected (USB and 5-pin/DIN).
Since you either connect the NS2 with USB to the Macbook or using 5-pin MIDI cable.
And when this is OK, set the correct midi channel on the NS2 (you can choose USB channel 1-16 or MIDI (5pin) 1-16).
Then you should be able to choose the correct MIDI input in Logic.
When using the USB method, It'll show up in Logic as Nord
When using the 5-pin/DIN to the 6i6, It'll probably be called the 6i6 MIDI interface (not sure its Nord).
Good luck!
